Cheryl what it is that stores 🏬 don’t want to be held responsible IF someone were to get sick 🤒 It’s sad but true it’s easier for them to throw it all away!! That way they can mark it off to get a credit.

And on a side note...CLEAN OUT the dumpster! I understand about "sharing is caring," but unless word is spread, there is no guarantee that ANYONE will go dumpster diving to recover all those left behind groceries, items, etc. Once the trucks come, all is lost. It's best to enlist help, if not available, make multiple trips. All of these "Blessing boxes" will then have a steady supply of stuff over time.

Omg all that perfectly good canned food! FYI for those who don’t know, canned meat is good for 3-5 years after best by date and canned veggies/fruits a good 10 years if not more. Dry snack are only good 6 months past best by date (I learned all this from a food spoilage expert). I’m so glad you saved what you could Cathie, you’re the best!

Check with the Activities Director for a nursing home near you. They really appreciate cards, craft items, magazines and adult coloring books and colored pencils. Some people in nursing homes have no one and they really appreciate things like that.
