Steph, this happened to me several years ago. The same little yellow gold finch would come to my driveway every day and do exactly the same thing to my car’s side mirror. He came for weeks. I couldn’t figure it out so I decided he must have been injured in some way and ended up with brain damage and he was just a bit off in the head. One day I was telling a friend about him and he told me that it was very common with birds and that they love seeing themselves in a mirror. Then he reminded me of people’s pet birds and how often times the owner’s attach mirrors on the inside of their bird’s cages so they won’t get bored and so they can enjoy looking at themselves! He said the nicest thing I could do for all the birds, that came to my feeders, would be to go to the dollar store and buy a few mirrors with handles and hang them in my trees for their enjoyment! I completely forgot all about it until I saw the bird on your mirror. Right now it’s too cold in Upstate New York to go hanging mirrors in the trees but I’m going to buy the mirrors now and I’ll have a fun project for me and my grandson to do in the Spring! I love watching your videos. You and Steve are a precious couple. However, Steph, I’ve got to tell you that some of your “practical” jokes that you pull on Steve kind of borderline on being mean. Please believe me the last thing I would want to do is criticize you but please understand this advice is coming from an old lady that’s been around the block and back several times. I use to be quite the jokester, the life of the party, etc... I realized one day that I sometimes hurt my husband’s feelings and embarrassed him. He never complained because, like your Steve, he was a very good sport. A close friend of mine pointed it out to me and told me she noticed a hurt look on my husband’s face when I fooled him at a party we were at, playing cards. I had a good old fashioned heart to heart talk with him one night when just the two of us were home alone. At first he said, “Heck no it doesn’t bother me when you prank me or fool me in front of our friends. I know you don’t really mean it.” So I pushed a little bit harder and he finally admitted that a lot of times it made him feel like I was trying to make him look stupid and make myself look like the “intelligent one.” I apologized and he said it was no big deal, etc... but I knew it really was to him and he’d been suffering in silence for my sake. A few days later I talked with my mother about it and she reminded me of how sensitive men are and how fragile their egos were. After that I started behaving myself more and tried to complement him and tell him how special he was, etc... Frankly, just between us girls, I’ve never met a man that I couldn’t improve! 😂 LOL. You two take care and God bless and protect you and yours.🌹

We have big round mirror on the deck. So ww can see who comes on our drive way. Last summer we had all sort of birds who think there girlfriends are in the mirror. They can sit there weeks on the railing waiting to come out. Woodpeckers try to break it. So we put bag over it. Lol But they can be aggressive. Hug from Lenie.🤗🤗🤗🤗
