You might consider leaving about a foot between the pallet rack and the wall so if you have a pallet that extends over the back you won’t damage the wall. I may or may not have experience with a “dented” wall

Those pallet racks 😅 yeah. Eventually, I came up with a system... Lean end against the wall, but a beam real low to connect to other end. Now come back and do one at 5'. If you do the back side first, less ducking. What's real fun is putting them up with a fork lift. Get em started on low beam. Platform, rails (on an angle), platform+ rail. Bring forks between the ends, climb up on the forks, hook up the back rail then front rail. Now the platform. Rails on an angle so they can fit between your end stands...

2 comments: 1.) farming in the Valleys, San Joaquin, Sacramento, etc., is a lot different than the Midwest; 2.) donate those windows to your local Habitat for Humanity or a similar organization in your area that builds or repairs for those less fortunate. Keep the videos coming. This ol' guy hasn't felt more connected with farming due to your videos and others than I have in 20 years.

I appreciate your dry sense of humor and bringing me a few good laughs in most of your videos especially because I suffer from major depressive disorder, situational and social anxiety, insomnia, ocd, and many other health issues. So it is truly a battle for anyone to be able to truly make me laugh but you sir accomplish that every upload. On another note, I know I am a year late but if those windows are still in your shop we are building our own shipping container energy efficient house, so if ya still have them I'm sure my husband would be interested as we can custom build the frames to their size.

Your local habitat for humanity might be a place to take the windows. Suggestion- attach the shelving to the wall, near the top, with good strong lags. You might think about making a bridge between the two rack section at the top. It would give you another 8’ or so of storage. Stay warm. Oh that’s right you’re going to CA!

I can second this. I used to work at a factory with some that were even larger. I once saw a forklift driver misjudge putting a pallett up. He had three shelves come down on the lift along with about 7,000 lbs of parts onto the lift. (the cage saved him but not his pants 😁) Thankfully the legs of the rack and the top layer stayed put because of the legs were bolted to the floor. That steel will twist if you aren't careful.

Hey Zack. Since you are going to be in Tulare (pronounced "to Larry") you might want to stop at Hilmar Cheese in Hilmar CA. Last year between the Texas plant and Hilmar CA plant they made over 1B lbs of cheese last year. I have been working with Hilmar for the last 25 yrs. I think you viewers might be interested. Ah yes. . . the good ol' hand truck! Takes me back to my first "real" job as a kid working in the back room of our local grocery store. Spent most of my days moving pallets of goods from point "A" to point "B" with those trucks! After 7 years, it was almost like an extension of my own body! Paid for 4 years of college doing that! 30+ years later now and retired! Good memories. . .

Having a few good, clean pallets is always hand...even just to keep stuff of the concrete. Even outdoors they'll last a year or two. Everything in my basement and garage is up on pallets to get them away from the rising-damp and to get some air circulation.

I also have pallet racks in my shop, instead of just pilling stuff like shovels add a rack on the end of the pallet rack that holds things off the floor it sure helps in keeping things organized. Thanks John.

Just looked up via Google. Some articles say it isn’t effected, but the University of Montana has an entire list of herbicides that lose efficacy when subject to cold storage. Some lose total effect when stored at 3°F. I’ll be reading more for sure…

hello zack hey that new pallet jack will also work good when you have to replace a wheel seal or bearings on one of the semi"s or semi trailers . just pull the axle and lock nuts then have the axle just high enough to put you pallet jack under both tires and with your brakes released pull hub and all as a unit , replace your parts then slide it back together and torque the nuts back on . i have worked for a couple of shops that we used these when we didnt have a wheel dolly or one that was being used somewhere else .sure is alot faster and hell of a lot easier than dissasembling everything .

Zach love your videos thanks. If there's any advice I can give you. It would be to put a couple anchor bolts on each one of the back side of the metal racks. I have personally seen them tip over for not being secured and almost crushing people. Would hate to see that happen or hear it happen to you or your children. And I just wanted to thank you for your videos and Podcast love listening to them while I'm trucking down the interstate

It has sliding doors but the rails are shitty and the doors don't slide well. We've had them fixed several times but those doors are so heavy they keep going bad so I just don't mess with them much

In and all around Salinas is pretty cool.....Tons of Produce Farms around that area.... Hauled Tons of produce of all sorts back to Minnesota for many years out of there. "If" u can....the coast line road "1" Is a pretty amazing drive up that way also. Safe travels ✌️
