We are starting the deck framework using overkill I-Beams we got with our free garage/building from Bill D.
The beams will be the main frames for the joists for the deck and the deck will be done with trex.
We started installed the first few beams before the dumpster showed up since they are fairly long (26') and thus needed them in place before the dumpster arrives.
The ETA on the dumpster was 8/4/2023 and it did show along with our huge telehandler rental 8# (8K pound fork lift). It all worked out but the dumpster was very late on 8/4 but we got it in place without any issues.
The telehandler is one cool piece of equipment I must say. Fun to play with.
In any case, we got the dumpster in place after install the initial 2 I-beams at the back of the door. The rest we installed once the dumpster was positioned so that we had a exact idea of what we where working around.
The deck consists of 2 levels, main, upper deck that is level with the sliding glass doors. The main deck is 1 step down and surrounds the dumpster. The fun part is welding the I-Beams to the containers for each deck level.
The main deck will have I-Beams that are cantilevered towards the pool and welded with several supports under each container (without needing pillars).
Might I add that its HOT in Texas this year to doing this work is more taxing. Either way it has to get done but it does get fairly hard in the later part of the day.
Enjoy the video, and as always thanks for the support from friends and family. We're getting there...time to order pool stuff!!!
Next video will be Part 2 of the deck framing, followed up by the deck build.
