In the US people only donate the stuff they don't like, like canned peas or mixed veggies. Cornflakes and stuff like that. I wish people thought more about the people they're supposedly trying to help and donate a variety of things even if it's chips and sugar cereal. People who can't afford food deserve treats too.

@@bluecarrie The food banks in my area in TN give mostly junk food and I've always wondered why people don't donate actual food for meals instead of cookies cakes and bread. Oh and pasta sauce with not pasta.

I dumpster dive to help myself and family then donate the rest to blessing boxes. The food at pantries is horrible I can't even make a meal and my kids don't like most of it so I gave up on that. I get more than enough dumpster diving and love being able to help. If you ever want to try go to dollar general they throw food out every week you just have to figure out the day they do it where you live. That's where I get most of my food items.

Exactly. Even if you struggle and have to go to food banks and such. You also need the occasional treat to help brighten the days.

Lol and rightly so ! I've know time for people like that . Obviously not struggled like myself and others. What you do is amazing. The world could be a better place. I want to do the dumpster diving, but don't how to go about it. What rights I've have and all that? I've been though the hard times and still am . But honestly would love to help others and myself to be fair. I just don't want to get in trouble lol .

@johnhowarth649 unfortunately you will get people giving you a hard time and threatening to call police ect but you have to have courage and belief in your reasons for saving stuff. Start with the easy bins first charity shops and then when you get used to it and start losing the fear go further afield. Good luck let me know how you get on.

We would get sales reps in from the different companies in our store and they would just look at the expired products ,make note of how many and give us a credit for the amount. Then tell us to throw out or take home the products. Might be the same over there too, stores get credit for merchandise expired so they don’t care about what happens to it.

What a kind man you are giving back to your community. You help so many families, parents who are working hard and still having to rely on food banks the system is broken. Companies should be fined and the government needs to bring a law in to eradicate this waste. You have opened people's eyes to the waste that goes on a daily basis. France has a law in place for this why can't our government improve because their fat arse's never went without , with their 3 houses we tax payers pay for .The poor are getting poorer and the fat cats are getting fatter. You must be out day and night and you travel so far. Thank you and your family as they are sharing you with us and kindly giving up their time with you so you can do all this hard work.
