David Robinson did a great job adjusting his game after the arrival of Duncan. Robinson was old with bad knees and became a great passer on the post and limited his fg to open mid ranges mostly, spacing the floor for TD.

That was the last year the knicks were in NBA finals in 1999. And they have not been in playoffs since 2013. Duncan was the MVP of that win of 4 to 1 series with the knicks.

Gosh, this combo was DEADLY. These 2 players are the reason I am a Spurs fan.

I was glad to see David Robinson get a few Rings before he retired David never got a lot of love from the media he was so good through his whole career before that injury I think he was better in his prime than Shack at least David Robinson didn't get swept by Akeem Olajuwon like Shaq did in that finals the year before Robinson's injury
@devangpatel52272 ай бұрын
he didnt' deserve the same love and only won the rings b/c of duncan

MsCarrionswarm Today's Spurs' team runs a Pick-n-Roll oriented motion offense. They still play a lot of high-low today as well with Boris Diaw and Duncan.

Damon Stoudamire said Avery Johnson could never be a PG of a championship team nice to see Damon is a punch line of a Chappelle joke and Avery did win a ring, was the starting PG and has been involved with the game ever since

For whatever reason, I always associate Duncan with the new arena as opposed to the Alamodome. No disrespect, but numerically- 3 titles came after they left the old building, and 2 of his Finals MVP's

No. Jeff Van Gundy said in a podcast recently that the Spurs were just a better team than NY, regardless of whether or not Ewing was there. Ewing (as great as he was from the mid-80's through most of the 90's) arguably slowed that Knicks team down that year by shooting a lot & at a very low % (44%) for a center. Sprewell & Houston being the focal points of the offense helped them get to the Finals.

Anyone watching this video needs to check out Noel and Embiid when they get on the court in 2015. This combo is the comparison that is being made when they are mentioned and I can't wait to see them together!

@SeecretWeapon10 жыл бұрын
Shawn Thomas as a Knick fan you would say that but you are wrong, completely wrong
@RKO8599 жыл бұрын
Shawn Thomas Nah, Ewing is good but past his prime at that time. Duncan was a beast, damn nearly upstoppable. Robinson was still a defensive anchor and a very good passer for a center, can also knock down those mid-range jumpers.
@spritedip29279 жыл бұрын
Dkouts57 Yeah, so dominant that they could NOT beat the Lakers for the next 3 seasons. NY was out manned and was post oriented thus the twin towers gave them fits. Spurs were the better team and won fairly. But I am still biased for my Knicks.

Knicks should have gone 4 guards and force the Spurs to match up = No Duncan or Robinson and at the same time.
@RKO8599 жыл бұрын
Chad Faul No, Duncan and Robinson would have a field day in the paint, scoring at will. Knicks would be forced to take outside shots because the rim is well protected. And you cannot win a finals series by relying on perimeter jumpshots. If they employ such strategy, spurs would probably win by 30.
@LeaperChad79 жыл бұрын
No...Your opinion.
@RKO8598 жыл бұрын
This is old school 90's basketball. Your strategy may work in today's era, where they go small ball ala. GSW. Jumpshooting team never wins a championship other than the warriors that made an exception last year. Besides, Knicks did not have splash bros in their team.
