I saw him open up for Ben Folds in Detroit. I was able to meet him backstage and asked if he would play this song on his guitar- he did! A genuine and nice fella!

I worked at a supermarket in the summer and fall of 1997. They used to play this song over the sound system almost every day. I never knew the title or artist until I looked it up just now. Good song.

@@Music-tk5oq I never understood why. This was played on AA (Adult Alternative) stations quite a bit. Before I had my own show, I worked on air at an AA station, and would use any excuse to play this. It was usually requested at least once per night on weekends. I'd play it even if it wasn't requested, or on the playlist. I would ALWAYS get calls after playing it, asking me who/what was just on. This is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time.

Duncan's first breakout hit "Barely Breathing" came out & got radio airplay during winter/spring 1997. This was his follwup hit which got radio airplay summer/fall '97. He was classified as a 1 hit wonder with the above mentioned breakout hit which hit #16 in billboard & this was a non charted single

Same hear, it was a beautiful song that was a good soundtrack for 1997. I looked up his song Barely Breathing and this was also recommended. I used to hear this song in Flagstaff Arizona all the time and it go's well with the beautiful backdrop.

Good heavens. The original McDreamy right here. And he still wears the crown ❤️ his wife is a lucky lady. More importantly (sorta), this was my introduction to his mastery of chord structure and melody. I’ve been one of his subjects ever since.

I used to be addicted to this album WAY back in the late 90's. Every night I'd come home, clean, light the yummy smelling candles, lay on the couch and listen to the entire Duncan Sheik album beginning to end. Oh, how my roommate HATED my taste in music! His taste still sucks and I still love Duncan, his music just NEVER gets OLD!

I just purchased tickets to see / hear Duncan perform some of his NEW material with the San Francisco Symphony in April!! ... I had the pleasure to meet Duncan on two occasions - opening for Shawn Colvin in Berkeley, CA, and performing a free concert on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills - and each time he was most gracious to, and so friendly with, all of his adoring Fans! What a NICE man, and a GREAT talent!! ... Good Karma always follows Good People!!.

One of my favorites...love what the guitarist is doing with the hammer-ons and slides...and then there are those mirrors...the song really captures the feeling of "the one who got away" "didn't understand, wasn't ready" ...very dreamy.

Yes, they do - eat their own for breakfast, that is. Duncan went on to score Broadway musicals. He is an award winning artist. I miss hearing him on the radio, though. This is one of my all time favorite pieces. I posted earlier that it's hauntingly beautiful.

I used to have this album on cd & played it every day, learned all the songs & harmonized with him. I miss this stuff. Barely breathing was my favorite. thank you for this. Im so frustrated & angry today. I need something to calm my nerves. Duncan Sheik is doing the job for me. 8-17-20

Especially this song, my tears burst out when I first played it not because I had had any personal experience about what he sang in the lyrics but the music was so beautiful and romantically haunting. I first heard this song late one night on the radio while driving my truck and it just bit me, so i went out the following weekend and bought an EP with 3 songs on it by this guy, little did i know at the time but those 3 songs would come to represent lots of great memories from the early naughties, whenever i hear this i'm straight back there in my mind. great song....

A musician friend of mine (who is also an incredible archivist and fan of Steven Stills) turned me on to Duncan Sheik and now I can't let the guy go. I just love hearing this song. The beginning guitar intro, always reminds me of being in an empty room and playing guitar. It's got that echo to it .so cool sounding
