Duncrief Ghost Town in Ontario

Duncrief Ghost Town was established in 1835 when the first mill was built. The post office started in 1863 prompting other businesses to start up which included a blacksmith shop, a wagon shop and a general store. In the 1880s, a Methodist church and a school were built.  The settlers had clearcut the trees around the mill which caused flooding. The flooding washed away the mills as the community kept rebuilding them. The last mill was taken out by a fire in 1895. The post office had finally closed its doors in 1910 and officially closed in 1913. This town of 100 people has been a ghost town since.

Something I've always liked about your videos past and present, since I've been subscribed to your channel for quite some time and I was also subscribed to your old channel, you always try to give history on a location. I remember when you first found and recorded, the crazy cat lady house, on your old Channel. I remember you spoke to a police officer sitting out front and he gave you some of the history on the property.

Thank you, very interesting. 👣I grew up in a ghost town. All that was left was an old general store and four houses. I am sure it is almost all gone now. This reminds me of that home, I explored every day and found all kinds of stuff from the 1800s.
