Dundee stroll: Lochee

Jag searches for a tunnel in Lochee that has some murals about Dundees history.

The Rialto was a cinema before a bingo hall. Saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers there. The old Astoria Cinema was about a mile down the road.

I used to live where the tunnel is now the tenements were knocked down in I think 1972 we lived above my grandfather's shop. happy memories

Worked in the Rialto Mid 90's when I was a student Pretty sure a majority of my wages was spent down the Ancrum Arms

@@tony1kenobi202 haha very good. I worked in the pavilion in Forfar for 11 years until it closed. Pauls mum died and he ended up moving to Spain to live. I used to work in a shop at the end of the Forfar bingo's close and he'd pop in once in a blue moon to say hello.

@@gayleblackie Often wondered what happened to him when I read the Rialto had closed. Glad to find out! Never got the chance to visit the Pavilion. Wracking my brains for the lovely woman who worked for him, think it was either Janet or Janice??

@@tony1kenobi202 Janet... I actually have a photo of them standing in the pavilion not long before it closed. I'm sure someone told me they were once in a relationship lol, I could be wrong! We ended up with a caller who used to be a rialto caller after it shut... Can't remember his name now, I have a photo of him too! Lol. Hmmm Steve or something? The pavilion went up in flames a year or so ago.
