I was at that game. What a sickner. Had a few pre match pints in the united supporters club and David Hannah just so happened to be there too as he was injured. We were all singing, the weather was perfect, sunny, crisp with a blue sky. What could possibly go wrong. Remember feeling sick when the pars got that early goal. We threw the kitchen sink at them, when daily hit the bar we knew it just wasn't going to be our day. Thankfully we won the Play Offs 2 weeks later so we joined the pars in the premier the following season.

That morning every Scottish tabloid reporter said Dunfermline didn't have the bottle. We were siting right in front of Jim Traynor. When that final whistle went my dad, mildest of men, was up at the window screaming at Traynor "Bottle? Bottle! That's f**king bottle!". What a day!

Any chance of uploading a better quality vid? I'd sunk a few beers before entering Tannadice that day but don't remember it being THAT blurry.

United has just been relegated the previous season and thought all they had to do was turn up every Saturday to go back up as champions - but the Pars hadn't read that script.

just goes to show money cant buy success. united spent a fortune that season still couldnt win the league and a lucky draw at cappielow the following week got them to a play off v partick again i believe they were lucky to get through. roll on twenty odd years and they are still paying out vastly more than anyone else in the second tier and are 20 points behind leaders St.Mirren despite being red hot favourites and captain willo flood still claiming at the weekend they are the best team in the league. strange when most of their team werent even alive when United were a good team.

Total garbage commentary by Jock Brown! Totally OTT. Great battling performance by the Pars. Best game I have watched as a Pars supporter.

agree 100% - was at the game - he said that they were all heroes, except Petrie (for being sent off) forgetting that he was the guy that scored the only goal!!
