Oh man, when he dropped that base I was all, "Nooooooooo!!!!!” And then saw that you had a lot of authority that could have been used to annex it ahead of time. But man, you just dont expect that game-throwing drop. He took both of you out of it by doing that :(

Sooooo along that line, would this game change your consideration in the future about potentially ensuring you cap all non-special regions in your back territory to prevent a potential Base Drop from Corrino? I can only imagine how much different the rest of the game would have gone if he had had to either a) attack through your triple missile choke point in the center, b) cross the desert, or c) fly his mothership into your territory to unload troops. Or would you just consider this to be an error by the Corrino player and just unfortunate for both of you as a result?

@@milespeterson5667 blunder for sure on the Corrino player. The best Corrino players I see never do deep base drops, usually they will drop it earlier on people borders to stop your expansion and quickly expand their own territories.

@@milespeterson5667 it's a good question, I think I'd still tend to leave background territory. It is certainly a mistake to drop a Corr base so deep in enemy territory unless there is some coordinated 2/3v1 that is going to result in a kill. The Corr base is too vulnerable and it is too much of a bloodfeud to aggressively drop

@@daevohk As much as it was a mistake for Corr, at the end of the day I think it was a mistake for you too to leave that opportunity open. You can't always rely on your opponents to act rationally. And from watching tournament games, it's pretty common practice to at least leave a man on background territories vs. Corrino - unless you really need all your army together for some push/defense, there really isn't much downside to keeping a few extra men out of your army to prevent such a critical lose condition.

Back field territory is so key to end game hege booms I always try to leave some. I didn't expect the reckless aggression!

Damn why did you try to take insulated valley over choam support? You said it yourself you only had like 2 regions with less then 2 water, and it's always nice to throw the extra solari you have into choam even you your not going for that WinCon to get the 10% bonus and the better exchange rates

I think having Thurfir over Paul would have been so much more helpful to you this game. Speed up on the operations seems like it would have helped you win more then a few of those fights. I honestly believe that Paul was a hinderance for you in this game.

Yeah the fast expand wasn't exactly critical to what we had here. We really just needed a more conservative Corrino neighbor.

@daevohk this is true. He really did throw the game for you both, base drops like that should really only be for when it's time to push and kill them. Haha. Did the best you could regardless.
