What you are looking at is the stylistic choices meant to convey that there are many different cultures with different values. Think of it as attempting to create a cohesive fashion book by taking one outfit from each designer at New York Fashion Week.

omg bella i am so here for this sitting in front of a piece of fabric, or a blank paper, or a skein of yarn, and not being sure how to go at it is one of the most dreaded and most real things i can think of! the overall look turned out SO cool, it's really something i could see someone wear on a red carpet - i'll be honest, though, as a personal preference, a dress-skirt would have been more my own style LOL (so don't take this as criticism, it's just a personal preference :) i still loved the look!)

Aw yay!! I usually don’t film my “wondering what to do” because I’m too bothered to set up a camera! 🤣 But this one was so much of this that I needed to share it! And will probably share more like it in the future! It’s such a reality for creatives! And no criticism taken! I actually go back and forth about the pants! Though once I was at the dunes doing the sand walk and such, I was glad to have pants. But another places, I would probably prefer a skirt.

I think it came out well. I would love to see it with long sleeves and a high neck, like a still suit, it almost looks like a stillsuit for a Bene Geserit, which is cool.

Adding an inner layer of linen would actually provide a cooling effect almost similar to a stillsuit, although we do lack the system to recycle that water.

The bodice came out really nifty, almost made me think wood grain but holy cats, those pants! I love that idea of pleating them first! Now I might have to play with something like that! Probably shorter pleats than yours though, as I'm kinda hip-deficient and what happens under where pleats are released can sometimes fake it.

Sand dunes. Ah so many memories 😉 I grew up a short distance from the little Sahara and spent some quality time there😂. Also lived near the great sand dunes in Alamosa Colorado for a while and that one is much larger than the one in Waynoka. You made me miss playing in the sand🤣

The Dune other characters costume designs you are referring to and show photos of appear to me to be very Moorish inspired in style.

A little explanation for the different fashions showed in your video I gland in the books. Sadly, those description are lost in the realisation of movie. Fremen: Everytime they get out of their sealed Sieth (underground vilage) they wore a stillsuit to catch their waters (transpiration, urine, feces, breath). There are 2 types of stillsuits: warrior one that you show in you picture and "civilisan" one. Fremen are by nature warriors. The flowy cape they wore is to protect their precious stillsuit from the uv dommage the 2 suns can cause to it. Jessica in yellow: She arrives from Calladan, a watery planet, as an aristocrate comming to rule on Dune. She wore a dress to combat the heat and the sandy wind while exposing herself to waterloss to show how water-rich she is. Yellow is to show them the color of cloth made with melange and to arouse religious inspiration on her and Paul that the Mission Protectiva the Bene Genesit have implant on this planet. She also whore long cloths, again to show she can buy lot of precious fabric. The second outfit is still for religious purpose since she is a Fremen reverand mother. Long and decorated dress to show the status. The one in silver is royality and Bene Geserit. She wore a cap because it is the Bene Geserit way to cover their head to better impose themself or erase themself. She wore silver to show she can bore the heavy weigth of the dirigeant. The bald guy in a black armor is Freid Ruka. The presume next ruler of the Harkonen family (previous dirigeant of Fune and one of the big influent familly). He come from a planet wich richess come from petrol. He is also a warrior, so he wore a plastic black armor.

Couldn't help but notice in the video that Bella uses a Bernina. It's probably one of the best if you can afford it. My mother bought one in the 1960s, and it was still going strong 30 years later. It would be worth looking out for a second-hand one.

Bella sews on a Vintage 1980’s Bernina 930. I own 2 of these and can attest that they are the best machine ever made. They run between $800-$1,200 used on eBay or marketplace

What they said! ❤ I love my Bernina 930 (I also had a 931 which worked great!!) Because it's mostly made of metal parts and also has no digital aspects, it has way less parts prone to break or go out!
