I feel a little strange that this Dune game is more of a numbers game instead of military game. Early and aggressive military seems only viable in a 2vs2 game, otherwise you lose out while the other players level up and leave you way behind.

For some factions (especially Ecaz) that’s true but others like Fremen thrive with early military. Fremen kind of have to play aggressive early since that’s when they have the biggest advantage and it’s not uncommon for them to ride that early hegemony push into the late game. Tbh if Corrino in this game decided at any point to bury the hatchet and keep Ecaz honest, Fremen would’ve been in with a pretty good chance

GG! Question: does your home base count as a military base? Or is it advategious to build a military base in the neighborhood if you're gonna helms deep

You do need to build a mil base in an adjacent territory if you need to hold the line at home. Home base really just counts as a very fancy missile turret.

Why not assassinate Atreides or at least try doing it? I think having running assassinations in the background to annoy/misdirect people is a really good strategy, even if they fail.

Assassinating takes a lot of intel production to even be considered viable which, unless your Vernius, is going to take a concerted effort to focus on and would leave you disadvantaged in another area And tho an attempt would cause panic, the longer the attempt takes, the more the assassinating faction has to pay (at an increasing rate per day). Ecaz tanking their economy for something that is pretty easy to snuff out unless you’re fully committing to it just to pull some troopers off the frontline just doesn’t seem like a worthwhile trade

Yeah as @jakemaas7806 pointed out intel is actually pretty pricey in terms of opportunity cost and Ecaz don't really make intel too well. I'd rather have that extra money in the bank for rainy days.

I'm not exactly sure because it was a huge boom. It must have been some variation on the classic which was: 1. start to peacefully annex multiple villages at once. Bonus points for special regions 2. start to build a research center district in main base which will provide instant +15% of hege provided by all controlled regions 3. Time everything to capture/build just before the spice tax hits which will pay out an extra 1000 (+15%)
