FYI if you haven't read the books, Movie 3 will be based off of Dune: Messiah, Book #2. Children of Dune will be Movie 4/Book 3, if they make it, and, well, Movie 5/Book 4 would probably be way too weird to make into a film, even for Denis.

Dennis Villneuve and Christopher Nolan have been saving the movie industry for the last decade at least, regarding balance of quality and money-making
@pablogfmovil11 ай бұрын
I mean, they're the only younger directors trying to do complex stuff instead of "safe movies". You could say Cuaron and Del Toro and other Latino directors have done it too, but most of Hollywood is going down the drain
@Fidel_L.Bousquet197011 ай бұрын
DUNE part 1 wasn't a big success at the box office. They didn't loose money, but it wasn't a big money maker. But some movies are not about making money, if there's a director behind it with balls and a clear artistic vision who wants to fight for his vision and do that movie, then the magic happens. Villeneuve is that kind of director.
@pablogfmovil11 ай бұрын
@@Fidel_L.Bousquet1970 But that was exactly my point. Villneuve didn't "succeed" at the box office but Part 1 made "enough money". That's what I mean with balance between quality and money-making
@abe10alpha11 ай бұрын
@@Fidel_L.Bousquet1970To be fair to Dune Part 1, that movie came out in the middle of Covid and on HBO Max the same day. The fact it still made over $400 million is incredible. I think Dune Part 2 if it’s as good as it looks has a legitimate shot at a billion dollars

You HAVE TO read the first book before you see the movie: part2 is the second half of the first book. It will make the story so much clearer and the symbolism/exposition so much more meaningful. I started reading it this summer and i can’t stop, makes the watch of the first one so much better and tbh, second one is wild so it would also help.

Finally, the reaction I’ve been waiting for. I hope this movie does well, as the message of the story begins to really unveil itself after this. When they say we are not prepared, they mean it. Honestly, the message of this series could not come at a more important moment. But we need to get to book 2 for people to really see it for what it is.

The original Dune novel is MUCH deeper than even three movies could do. The Dune series of novels (of which there are dozens) is one of the truly great sci-fi epics. Only the Foundation franchise is on the same level. Of course, Star Trek and Star Wars are epic, too, but they both started out on the screen, not in 500+ page novels. When Dune first came out, it won both the Hugo and Nebula awards for epic sci-fi storytelling. The two movies STILL won’t even begin to unfold the whole story, it’s just mind-shattering.

I love the DUNE novels by the late great and Denis' DUNE; PART ONE and Hans Zimmer's epic scoring. Denis Villeneuve is a true maestro of cinema and I've been Following Timothee Chalamet ever since he was a teenager in the series (2nd season) of HOMELAND. He slayed it. He turns 28 this month and in 2024 he'll begin filming starring in the Bob Dylan biopic as DYLAN during his younger years as the legendary folk rock singer. Anyway, You guys are great! I've got my butter knife ready. LFG!!
@PyramidHead31610 ай бұрын
Timothee Chalamet had a great predecessor in Alec Newman, when they did the Dune miniseries on the Sci-Fi Channel many years ago. And even though it was a low budget miniseries, it was still pretty good (along with its sequel). With Denis Villeneuve and a massive budget behind him, Chalamet has a great chance to surpass him. Paul Atreides is just one of those roles that gives a great actor meaty material to work with. If they take it all the way to Children of Dune, he can win a couple Academy Awards for sure. I know Villeneuve has said he's only doing Dune Messiah so far, but I'm hoping he changes his mind and incorporates the third book into his films. That part of the story is crucial for Paul's arc. I'm sure Dune Messiah will get him a couple award nominations, but I want to see the whole arc on screen.

It’s an amazing movie but as someone who’s read nearly all the books the way Denis changed Channi and his repeated claim the Frank Herbert said Paul isn’t supposed to be thought of as a hero is BS. The interview he claims Herbert made the statement in doesn’t exist and he needs to stop lying about it. He made an amazing movie but again as someone who’s read the books I know for a fact that he’s lying. Both Paul and his son Leto II are the heroes, they’re just not the heroes you expect, their the heroes the story needs them to be and I know that sounds confusing but it’s clear to anyone who’s read the books so I don’t understand especially for the fact that he goes on and on about how much he loves the book, well if you love it then stop lying and just admit that you wanted to make the changes from what’s in the book and stop blaming it on Herbert when he never said what you claim he did. I know I’m coming off angry but if you’ve read the books (both father and sons) and loved them as much as the fans of the books do then you will understand why him repeatedly lying about how Frank who wrote the book viewed the main character he created, especially when he claims that Frank wrote the second book specifically to counter the view of the fans had that Paul is the hero when the book doesn’t do that and in fact does the complete opposite and reinforces the fact that Paul is the hero even though it’s necessary for him to do some terrible things and it’s the very reason why we find out that it’s necessary for him to do the things he’s done and that what he starts when he becomes emperor his son Leto II finishes… The more I think about it the more it pisses me off because he’s again just blatantly lying about the book again that he claims to love so much and how Dune has always been a dream project for him but what’s so bad about it is that it’s so easy to prove he’s lying.
