Welcome to the heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Dune Prophecy.

Bene round the world and I, I, I, I can't find atreides but what we have found is lots of easter eggs. Throughout this video we're gonna break down the episode and talk about all the things within it. This reveals facedancers, a point of view of Desmonds change and also tells us who the eyes belong to.

With that out the way, thank you for clicking this, now let's get into Dune Prophecy.
thump thump thump (0:16)
Ok so the episode begins with the sound of a thumper. In the dune-iverse we know this attracts the worm and theyre used a lot by the fremen.
Later on we see them in desmonds vision as he calls forth Shai-Halud. That thump thump thump is described in the book as being like a heartbeat and when the worm paused at Jessica and Paul we could hear something similar inside of it.

This then transitioned to the thumper and highlighted the worms picking up on the rhythm. This is what lets them know something livings moving in the desert which is why the fremen walk without a repetative pattern.
Here we see as it awakens sister Emeline who has a vision of herself slitting her throat. Sleep walking we see her go to the pit where she's attempting to carry this out. This of course plays off what happened to Dorotea and its something Tula later on imagines doing to Emeline.
Now we have lots of symbolism to eyes, sight and vision in this episode. This motifs appeared throughout the series and it yet again turns up here. We've pointed out before that the water in the middle of the room looks like an eye from a top down view. The Emeline in her vision also has her eyes stitched closed.
Later on when Desmond burns the paper this is also done into a circular bowl with the fire in the middle.
Desmonds eyes get a lot of focus after the attack and we of course have the two eyes seen in the vision.
Either way Theodosia wakes up and finds this nightmares repeated in the other sisters. All of them are clutching their throats and I believe this highlights Lilas awakening...or rather Dorotea.

I think your prediction the Eyes of Abad staring back at the BG in their collective dream are Paul's eyes, is correct. One of his lines to Rev Mother Mohaim as Paul announces he is the Kwisatz Haderach and confirm it to her, is along the lines of "look into that dark place you (Bene Gesserit) cannot see, and you will see me staring back at you" It's a worthwhile theory time

My theory is that Desmond gave his blood willingly to Valya, so she will use it on Anuril. This will somehow give him proof the sisterhood is using a thinking machine, which will give him a reason to make the emperor destroy the sisterhood and Anuril. The sisterhood will rebuild after this event and this rebuilt order will be called the Bene gesserit.

let me add to your theory, when Desmond got swallowed in the desert he got infected by a thinking machine who was present inside the worm's belly thus becoming a half machine, he left his blood on purpose so that valya tries to analyse it using anuril but what she doesnt know is that his blood acts like a virus that will contaminate and destroy anuril

Nice breakdown and love the last two episodes as well. To me, the eyes of ibad represent "the place we cannot see" that is referenced in he first Dune book, which could be Leto II or the golden path itself. In the first book, Paul sees what the other mothers cannot and at first he goes along with the Jihad, but then by Messiah he questions this path. By the end of Childrens Leto II fully commits, which I think is what is being seen with the eyes of ibad. The Sisterhood is terrified because Leto II basically destroys them during God Emporer (I think, haven't read it yet). What's weird to me though is that whenever the eyes of ibad comes on the screen a robotic voice is heard, which makes me think it could also be the "great enemy," or Omnius, from the later Dune books, but I'm not sure.

Leto doesn’t destroy the sisterhood but severely restrict them and the thinking machines do survive and reemerge over 13k + years later with Omnius and Erasmus being found by the passengers in the No-ship. Do read the books, they are brilliant!

Ok, actually the eyes are be both Paul and Leto II. How you ask? Well the future is not set. Paul could have become the God Emperor, but selects another path, which forces Leto II to make the sacrifice instead. The eyes, which I am sure represents "the place you dare not look" for the sisters, are a symbol of their inability to handle the Golden Path without a Kwisatz Haderach. As said earlier, who that will be, is not set at this point in time. One of the main threads of Dune is that the future is not set, but becomes (semi-) set once someone starts having prescience. The more precise this prescience is, the more set the furture becomes, and so immunity to others prescience symobolise freedom of will, which is a major part of what the Golden Path is about. (This is based on the original books. Not sure how much Brian messes with that. Never read his stuff.)

Think you should check out what the GOD machine is. That is the real thing that states Leto the second. The battle at the end of humanity. Because it ends humanity. Using an ability like prescience it can track any human. With the gene being bred into humanity this stops that being a possibility. Leto 2nd tells them when he dies not to worry about it anymore. So yes the gene stops the bene geserit ans similar groups. But the main threat is the thinking machine that becomes GOD like and wipes humanity out.

I think spice is readily available for his family and those of wealth that they probably consume it in small amounts. Teas, food? Who knows just throwing ideas out there

Spice is a very rare and expensive substance. Very few people have access to it or use it. In the original Dune, Paul didn't get exposed to spice until he got to Arrakis, and the the Atreides were becoming a powerful House. Also, even though spice has positive effects like vastly prolonging life, it is also extremely addictive and people cannot survive withdrawal once they become addicted to it.

I feel like Warner Bros. is playing the field a bit. Because as an adaptation, they can just change it to make Paul become God Emperor. It all depends on how Denis does his final film and then they'll either go Paul route or go the book route with Leto 2. Personally whichever works as long as it's written and delivered well. After all it is just an adaptation that takes nothing away from the books.

I'm not sure the eyes have anything to do with Leto II. I believe it has something to do with Anirul. Very sound theory time though. The Bene definitely set up the circumstances for Constantine and Ynez to be aducted and then rescued whenever they wanted. 19:00 Keiran also spoke about his father surviving an "atrocity" to Ynez, so his father was Albert (the boy Tula let go)

Hey Guys, I absolutely love this series and the "Rings of Power". While some people trash any deviation from "Canon" or any additions to "Canon" just remember the original authors of both series are dead. Add to that both original authors left a lot of PRE and POST story untold. Now about Episode 4. It seems to me that neither Paul or Leto 2 would neither need or want to change the past. Paul was obsessed with trying to see the future and was then trapped by it. While Leto 2 often enjoyed pilgrimages to the past (his words), those trips were typically to calm himself from the death of a well liked Duncan, some terrible thing he had to do or just because how lonely he was. For me the eyes of the Ibad could or should in my opinion be Norma Cenva. Norma would seem to me to be the only one that would want to peer into the past to bring about certain out comes. I have no idea if this series will ever mention her. I don't remember if she is ever mentioned in any TV or big screen adaptation. But she has to be one of the most important if not THE most inportant person in the whole Dune story. Without her inventions during the machine war and her contributions after the machine war the majority of the Dune story never happens.

This is just a guess since I havent read the books or anything but I feel like tree one of the sisters drew could be something to do with the computer they use at the end with Tula. When she turns it on and things illuminate there are lights that form something that looks like trees. Not sure if its connected or not but as soon as I saw them the drawing immediately popped into my head. Maybe its about family trees as well. Not sure.

my problem with this show is the acolytes... they supposed to go through some of the most rigorous training and insane fighting style with the weirding way.. but it looks like they are just chilling in Hogwarts not doing crap.. hard to buy that they are some insane mysterious order

They arent the ‘Bene Gesserit’ yet.. They are the ‘Sisterhood’ basically the prequel to the Bene G Order. This takes place 10,000 years before Dune. It makes sense that they are not well cemented as and order and it makes sense for the show. While do home their fighting skills have not fully developed the weirding way. Also is shown that so far Valya is the only one shown to be able to use ‘The Voice’ as she had been the first to discover it. While in the books and movies its clear every reverend mother/BG are able to use it. You cant go into this show expecting it to completely make sense and align with Atredies Empire Bene Gesserit. Its silly people are dissing this show for stuff like that, its like saying “oh well, the roman empire didn’t have cars so it’s hard for me to see them as some sort of great civilization. As it being only 2,000 years from us compared to the 10,000 years from Dune Bene Gesserit to the Dune prophecy sisterhood. With that being said the show does have flaws but I think they have done a good job with making the vibe and filmography similar to the Dune movies.

I rely on commentators such as yourself to give me background. I am really enjoying the show with very limited Dune knowledge. The worm/fire connection was a very intetesting point. How intelligent or socially organized are the worms? I think that Desmond is a tool for a Supreme AI or AI/Worm being that is trying to climb to dominance. I do not know enough lore; so this is very speculative.

As Villeneuve did in the movies, I think the showruners are doing a good job by leaving Mentats and Navigators out of the story so far, and therefore, have plenty of room to expand the series in following seasons. The story that they are developing is intricate enough for a 6 episode season. It would be overly convoluted otherwise. They have my atention so far.

I think there is an interaction with the spice in the body and a person without any spice in them would be immune to the "burning" . The spice allows one to traverse the universe so it would also explain how Desmond can reach across a great distance to kill someone. The Bene Tleilax could do some strange higher plane things. Desmond may be exerting spice energy from his own body to affect others.

Always love your commentary. Been a Frank Herbert fan since High School. Have read all the Dunes he wrote. I don’t agree on the 10K years thing though. 10k years ago we were in the Holocene era of humanity, before the invention of pottery. It just makes no sense that in 10k years , there’d be no change to the political fabric of society or in technology. It always confused me that with water being so scarce on Arrakis, why no one brought a giant freight ship full of water to Dune and traded it with the Fremen for peace or at least a temporary ceasefire. You could supply them with years worth of water with one or two spaceships. They take freightships full of spice out off Arrakis and transport it accross the galaxy, so this shouldn't be too difficult. There might even be a planet with water nearby Arrakis.

Ok after digging around the web, apparently water is dangerous to sand worms. It is toxic to fully grown sand worms who r the makers of spice. To the baby sand worms, they r drawn to water and swarm the water if its detected and at that point become full grow sand worms.

The fremen largely kept to themselves and would only fight back when harvesting operations would drive them from their homes. They were never really considered that big of a threat until Paul united the tribes and it was revealed that there was millions of them living in the deep desert. That being said there was a lot of money to be made shipping water to Arrakis. Water was an important part of the supply chain to keep the spice flowing.

Water kills worms. It's a secret known to very few people. The Spacing Guild knows this and since they control all interstellar space travel, they will not transport water to Arrakis.

I think part of it is no one really respected them or saw them worth making a deal like an equal. Why trade with a group of people you feel like you can subjugate or that is beneath you? As well as just drastically underestimating their numbers and potential as warriors since so little was known about them.

I’m quite into this show now after a bit of a shaky start. Not too keen on The Emperor, he seems very easygoing and approachable considering he runs the UNIVERSE. Also don’t like the Hollyoaks subplot. And Travis Fimmel irritates me in a Tom Hardy way. Other than that, really into it. The fact that there’s 10,000 years to work with for this prequel is quite promising for future seasons. Personally I’d like a different story, characters, timeframe for each season. Not sure if that’s what they have planned though.

So, I have also been watching breakdown videos, of this show from "Emergency Awesome" and "Quinn's Ideas". Charlie, from "Emergency Awesome" also leans toward the... glowing blue eyes... potentially being the God Emperor, looking back from the future. However, Quinn, from "Quinn's Ideas", is coming at from a different direction. Just finished watching his video, on this episode. He leans to the... glowing blue eyes... potentially being Omnius. He isn't convinced, yet, of it potentially being... the God Emperor. His basis for this... the blue color of the thinking machine technology AND the sounds that accompany the... glowing blue eyes... when they are shown. What are your thoughts on this?

I have read... none of the regular novels, nor any of the graphic novels. I have seen the most recent films, and I have watched the old 1984 film. That being said, I have been in on this show, since the first episode. Despite not having read any of the source material, I am not at all finding the story difficult to follow. Definitely, looking forward to seeing how it pans out. Incidentally, I have watched some Dune lore videos, here and there, though. After watching part one of the latest film series, I wanted to find out more. Perhaps that's why I am not finding this difficult to follow. 🤔

Are the eyes the "eyes of Ibad"? I thought the eyes of Ibad was just the name the Fremen had for the blue-in-blue eyes that come with spice addiction. While I also first wondered if the eyes were those of Leto II. However, I was also thinking that Paul told Reverend Mother Mohiam at the end of the first book he says "Try looking into that place where you dare not look! you'll find me there staring out at you." Thus perhaps it is Paul, the Kwisatz Haderach.

Well if it is leto looking back with the blue eyes in space then I would guess desmond is being controlled by leto through space and time so that leto's outcome can happen. THat wasnt a spider, it was a solifuge ("sunfleer"). They are arachnids likes spiders, but they dont have venomous fangs (instead they got pincers like a crab, but they vertical and look like spiderfangs) and they cant spin webbing.

I disagree that we need a show about it to understand the why they fear AI so much. As someone who's inherent fear is AI taking over the world in the future because I was terrified watching Terminator movies as a kid. It does not take much for me to understand the gravity of the situation. And if we were to expand on that history. I'd much prefer a Movie Trilogy. Dune deserves the big screen attention with immaculate cinematography and visual effects.

I think it’s ether Desmond is part thinking machine orrrrrr kinda out there but I think he may have sand trout inside him being that the worms have basically a furnace inside them in the books and they could give him the power to burn ppl from the inside (like the worms) but it’s slowly killing him because he isn’t compatible like Leto in the future just a theory tho

Just three of my criticisms of this show so far. 1. The music score is ordinary and makes the show just another boiler-plate drama. 2. The opening credits whip by so fast you don't have time to read the names of the principal cast. Which gets me to... 3. This show is vastly over-produced. I counted: 1 VFX producer, 3 co-producers, 1 consulting producer, 2 supervising producers, 2 line producers, 2 producers, 7 co-executive producers, and a whopping TWELVE executive producers. That's a total of *THIRTY* producer credits. Holy crap. It's the vision of a committee of blind elephant-feelers.

I think Desmond and the school girl that didnt have the dream are robots. The blue eyes in the dark are the robot eyes from the thinking machine in the cellor of the school. The first episode opens with a blue eye robot. The robot is God and is going to take revenge for losing the war.
