Much closer than I would have guessed. Being 6' 3" helps considerably. Now to see a comparison with Bianca doing both.

Brilliant, love the creativity! If you take into account the fact that you can leave way more bedding and even clothes in the soft-top, it makes the times even closer.
@explorebound2 жыл бұрын
Very true! We've found we can leave a doona or two in the hard top, but the soft top could pack away with pillows too which was a definite plus.
@cliffbooth7075 Жыл бұрын
I’m my Dune soft top I keep an additional 50mm mattress topper, 2 pillows and several opened up sleeping bags as an underlay as well as blankets. I don’t keep the ladder up there though, but there is room for a bit more stuff that’s for sure.

Great video! I have the soft top Nomad and love it! I made an extension for my engine crane to lift the whole tent off and on. Now I have the option of mounting it on either my Highlux (4" lifted) or my 8x5 trailer depending on where and how long I'm away for. I love that I can leave all my bedding in the soft top model as it saves heaps of time setting up!
@explorebound2 жыл бұрын
Brilliant, that's a great versatile solution! The soft-top really is an unreal tent, especially for how well priced it is - ours never let us down in 3+ years and we put it through some pretty intense weather haha.

Thank you for great, informative content. We watched your videos about both Dune rooftop tents quite a few times and, thanks to you, were well informed. We ended up buying the soft rooftop tent, based on weight and price. We have used it twice now and are very happy with our choice. 😁

I’d go hard top over soft top any day 👍 Hard tops give less wind drag and are just more durable, so I guess one vote for hard tops 😬👍🍻

Can anyone tell me why the Dune 4WD Rooftop Tent is the same as the Dometic TRT? Is it essentially the same manufacturer with different branding? I’m looking for this Rofftop tent and after the Best Buy if they are the same thing.

Great comparo again, looks like the ranger should stay on for nostalgia 😉 have you thought of getting a piece of elastic to go around the middle of the hard top to help in packing up by pulling in the tent as the tension is released. A lot closer in time than I thought it would be. Cheers 🍻
@explorebound2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate!! The hard top does have an elastic cord on the inside that helps to pull the material in, but perhaps an additional one would help, cheers 🙂

Dune 4WD Nomad Deluxe Hardtop Rooftop Tent 140cm, It is work with kluger2016? And this is not four season tent right. At the night will feel cool? Thx
@explorebound2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the external dimensions are 210 x 140 x 28 cm so the best way to tell would be to measure your roofspace to see if it will overhang. They're not too cold at night as they dont have as much internal space as a floor standing tent so heat up quickly. 🙂

Would be happy with soft top but wanted to mount solar not sure it’s worth the extra $$ though
@jarrodhanley84362 жыл бұрын
Has anyone had any experience putting a big solar panel on the hardtop. How do the struts go?
@krump7432 жыл бұрын
If the struts dont work with the weight, just buy different ones to suit n swap it out.

For the price of the hard shell. Might as well get a motop style tent and be set up in like 12 seconds

Soft top now $1099 vs hardtop $2599. Is the hardtop worth the extra do you think? Pros vs cons. I'm in 2 minds which to go for.
@explorebound Жыл бұрын
For the money the soft top is really hard to beat. The hard top is a better tent, but not $1500 better in my books.

Lmfao well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. What a genious idea video idea and execution. Price difference would have to be thought of as to whether 16 or so seconds over all is worth it, over the soft top.
