I was in the US Navy in Dunedin on a ship 1965-67 in support of operation deep freeze in Antarctica. We would spend about half our time in Dunedin and the rest near the south pole. I was young 18-21. My ship was USS THOMAS J GARY DER 326. I have a lot of great memories. Very friendly people and pretty girls. I fell in love, had my heart broken and fell in love again 😂 All the silly things that young people do. I’m 72 now and having the best time of my life here in San Diego, Ca. I’ve had a good life and I’m not done yet 💪🏼👌🏼💕🕵🏼♀️

I was born in Dunedin, and lived there for fifty years. A very beautiful, friendly city, a different way of life. I'm somewhat homesick now, after watching this video.

Hi man im from Saudi Arabia. I have been changed my religion to Christianity and planning to come to NZ, Auckland. Can I make an asylum when I first gey to the airport? is ur government will let me to stay. im worry .😔
@proudkiwi76419 жыл бұрын
+Long Life Freedom So whats your question? You can migrate here easily, and you dont have to change your religion.
@jonimaar__20239 жыл бұрын
+Anton Nzl thanks a lot my friend. But I must have a reason to immigrate to NZ or ask for asylum. I will be in NZ within 2 months. 😘
@proudkiwi76419 жыл бұрын
Long Life Freedom Ok, well I dont really know too much on our immigration policy, but it is easy to migrate here. Not sure how the asylum seeking will work out, you might have to do some research, because if youre not careful you may be denied or deported.
@jonimaar__20239 жыл бұрын
+Anton Nzl yeah I have done many researchers on that and I found that another Saudi guy did the same thing and have been accepted the asylum. pray 🙏 for me man. 🌷🌷

Indescribably awesome in every way...the city and all that encompasses...LOVE and respect the "Edwardian" architecture which has not been torn down ..the south Pacific of course which can never be adequately defined or described! No wonder Kiwi's don't ever want to leave their beautiful Country! "Good on you!" ;-)

Im visiting Dunedin soon. Im from Wellington and want to know, is it similar to Wellington? Because I find Wellington rather fun and dont want to end up in some boring hick town lol.
@Wilhelm53819 жыл бұрын
+Anton Nzl Dunedin is NOT some hck town, it's the best place... it has a university and a large percentage of the students are foreigners so it hasn't got that hick-town feeling at all. There are good bookshops, a Starbucks and many restaurants and it is without doubt the friendliest and most liveable town in NZ and is well run the nature around Dunedin is magnificent,

I'm planning to pursue my further education in NZ and Dunedin is one of the places on my list. If any natives are here, Could you please tell me how's it's like in Dunedin ?? :)
@grace-anne566010 жыл бұрын
Dunedin is a lovely city (I grew up here for most of my childhood), it's very cold in the winter with often getting snow and ice but the temperatures can get into the 30sC in the summer. Dunedin is very student orientated with 20% of the population students, Otago Uni/PolyTech has the best student life, also some great clubs, malls and restaurants. Also only 3 hours drive from Queenstown, so good for a long weekend for skiing, tourist attractions. Most things in Dunedin are in reasonable walking distance or only a short bus/car journey but Dunedin is quite hilly. Oh and it's the cheapest city for living in NZ, like house and food prices are cheaper down here and there are hardly any traffic jams. The only downside is that Dunedin so far away from anything in the World, it's the furthest city away from London in the World for example and you usually have to go to Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch for Concerts etc. But overall I highly recommend Dunedin especially if your going to be a student :)

Yeah most landlords/building owners don't give a toss about maintenance until the building starts to fall down (ex. The Dragon Cafe) As a local it frustrates the daylights out of me to see pretty buildings left to get wrecked but we can't get them to do anything about it :(
@prnothall93026 жыл бұрын
Entilodont A large percentage of Dunedin landlords do not live in Dunedin or even in New Zealand and as long as the extortionate rents keep coming in , don’t give a shit about maintenance or upkeep. Every NZ city is the same. Dunedin is not unique in this respect.

unsure as to what it is like now, but when we lived there in the early 90s it was chronic, violent, intimidating, dingy and dank. there was a white power gang across the street complete with swastika flags for décor -they created all kinds of havoc. Ended up being burgled, front door smashed in, etc etc, more hell. Left as soon as could arrange it and went to ch ch
