I think the props are to slow down the enemy mobs, and the idea of the statue is risk reward: you charge it up and then let a ridiculous number of enemies spawn only to have the statue go off and kill them all at once so you can harvest all the drops.

Something about it is kinda messing with me, but also alot about it looks addicting and fun. I mean for a demo/ beta its pretty chunky though too
