As a WoW veteran with almost 15 years played, i LOVED your videos and i´ve been using this king of thinking (same kind of abilities, CD, DCD, etc) for ages, but oh my your esdf movement to get MORE easy to press keybinds blew my mind. Its hard to re train my fingers to the new movements and buttons, im still loking at the keyboard a lot. But WOW i almost got everything i need on my shaman and i Didnt even used the modifiers yet! (i have really small and dummy hands) so the less modiferes the best :D

Ive been playing since launch so almost 20 years and setting up my keybinds and grouping them by ability type always made sense. I didn't do a spreadsheet (til now lol), but its something Ive done for many years... now, I brought some friends to Azeroth and needed a clear way to explain the stuff in my brain and you just put it so nicely. I've been playing since the end of cata took a few breaks here and there anyways i am a camera turner and an action bar clicker only use keys for target and move its getting to me has been for a long time im glad to see videos like this to help me in the crazy transition its sooo hard for me to use keys since I've been playing wrong this whole time thanks for all the work you put into these vids.

Great video. Really helped me a lot and motivated me to change my key bindings in Diablo 4 to something where the fingers fit more naturally. Less cramping and movement.

I can see a huge benefit of using ESDF, only issue is for keyboards not American English layout. The shift key is much smaller and makes you have to stretch your pinky to far for modifiers.

What about healers though? Tanks and dps specs are easy mode when it comes to key binding because they don't have as many skills, but healers tend to need more key binds since they retain many dps skills from their dps specs and need bunch more key binds for their actual healing spells. How would you categorize them? I think the new spec preservation evoker can be a good example for this. And also racials please.

Also first time seeing someone else talk about setting up keybinds that are universally useable and the logic behind it. Fun though how I notice most I have the same logic, but for some things I use other logic for. For example my thump mouse buttons (I have 2) I always have interrupted on the most forward one. And shift+ that one is a second interruptable ability (paralysis). But some classes don't have a secondary ability that I can use as an interrupt, which is not a stun. That is where things get a bit more complicated for me. I never thought of using a spread sheet. I am going to do that now tho. However I have my actionbars setup in the layout of my keyboard and mouse. and kbm left next to chat and mouse right next to the other chat (I use elvui, but if I didn't I would have my dps meters there so the same visual logic applies). You are providing such good content on your channel. I am loving it!

I have to ask. Why do you place your rotation on the keyboard and CDs on the mouse? I feel it makes more sense to do the complete opposite. I get a lot more of a feel for my thumb on my mouse which is only dragging along to each one of the spell buttons, vs having to lift and move fingers on the other hand to reach for abilities that I could. just be hitting sequentially on the mouse. I am genuinely curious, because I don't feel I am optimal at what I do so I am trying to learn. from your bindings to get better :)

Could you do a breakdown of how rotations should work at some point? A lot of guides talk about them but don't really give a good in-depth view of them from start to finish as to why certain things are done.

I have played Wow since day one and this is the first time that I have seen such a consistent and intuitive way for setting up keybinds. Which key do you use for target swapping.. usually done by TAB. Appreciate your help... tyvm !!!

I'm so clumsy with my fingers on the keyboard that using my Corsair Scimitar is mandatory for me to enjoy the game. I've made it easy for myself by setting up 3 banks of 4x3 icons on the screen the correspond with the 12 thumb buttons. The first set is normal number keys plus minus and equals, the second set is the same except holding the shift key and the third set is Control 1 to =. I also have a 1x12 bank above that with things like scroll up, scroll down, Q, E, R etc.

'Who uses F buttons anyway?' Guilty as charged, your honour. I use F1-4 for my big offensive cds or anything that gives me a large dps boost. I use Shift-F for all my major defensive cds. Alt 1-4 for healing. S1-4 for things like curses and dispels. I use a Razr Naga, so I use my number buttons for all my regular attacks (1,3,4 and 5), dots (2) and finishing moves (6). Q for all stuns, W for all major and regular AOE, R for interrupt, F for throwing and also placing the reticule. F5 for falling abilities. C for any kind of minor defensive/armour like Ice barrier. Mouse up for movement like Blink. V is always taunt and Alt-tilde is hearthstone. Mouse button 4 is always for my mount. There are others, but it mostly works well for me, enough that I know certain abilities in my sleep. I'm sure I could definitely improve on some things though, so this is a really helpful tutorial, even for a long time player of the game.

On a UK-layout keyboard, our left-Shift button is half the size and we have a backslash button where the other half of the key would be on a US keyboard. This makes having a resting position on left-Shift be much more awkward and hard to maintain. On these keyboard layouts, do you think it's still worthwhile to go with ESDF, or would WASD actually be more optimal since we have the additional backslash keybind available anyway?

I use a mmo mouse and I do this, Shift+1-12 is all my defensive with the most important ones being 1-6, any class with a purge is Shift+1, ctrl+1-12 are more utilities, ctrl+1 is always interrupt, ctrl+12 is always lust

This was my issue. Just two characters level 25 and I was placing abilities wherever and jumping between two characters would take me 30 minutes of oh I built this this way. Now with your logic I'll only bind 1 ability per what it does instead of binding the whole spell book randomly

How did you get the buttons on mouse M1 M2 and so on.. when I hit 1 on kb ita like hitting 1 on my mouse .. vice versa.. thank you...1 is potion.. then you have 1 on stun

Who uses F1, F2, F3, F4 anyway 🤣 I picked up keybinding those buttons back in 2005 on my Vanilla Paladin for seals. As a WASDQEX movement player I needed accessible buttons to handle all the seals since 6, 7, 8, 9, 0 , -, = are way too far away. Worked great for me and have worked the F# keys into all my characters since then. I also was a big user of Shift+2 to bring up an entirely different action bar, mostly for healers before using a click cast addon. It was fantastic at the time.

I use F1-4, 1-4, QERT. CTRL, Shift, Alt modifiers on my G600 mouse so those keys alone give me 35 key bind options. 18 more button options on the side of my mouse plus 5 function scroll wheel and I've got more than enough button options for anything.

ESDF sounds good, but doesn't work so well with smaller hands. Z becomes more difficult to reach and it's about impossible to use control as a modifier. For me, there's nothing to be gained from it, but plenty to lose.

I am so sad I am not able to use a mmo mouse, it would solve all of my keybind issues In case you wonder; I tend to squeeze my mouse between my thump and pinky a bit more forceful then the average person so I keep accidently hitting the extra buttons

I have been playing wow since 2007. I have never used keybinds or ui add-ons or weakauras, nothing like that. I have always been a top performer with the highest uptime % even without them. My personal thoughts is that using all of those add-ons takes away important skills you aquire when playing and makes you dependant upon the add-ons. At the end of it all just play the game how you want to play it and have fun! Just heed my words lol

As a returning player, I don't even know all the "categories" that exist, how many and which types of offensive? Even less throughout all the classes, maybe I'm playing one that doesn't have a special type of movement offensive group thing, and most of the others do, so I've already got used to the best position in the keyboard for that to do something else that doesn't make sense.
