Good speed painting demo. These days i paint mostly historical minis, but good basic techniques work well for those as well.

The paint name is pronounced Ushabti, not Ushtabi. It's a reference to the guardian statues of the dead from the Warhammer universe, which themselves are derived from the ancient Egyptian funerary dolls that accompanied the dead into the afterlife.

Any particular dish soap? Edit, I see the picture Dawn original scent. I’m surprised it doesn’t dry out and separate from the paint. Nice goblins, I’ve got a 20 pack on the way, gulp.😮

Could you please do a video on making a wash? Thank you!
@DUNGEONCRAFT15 жыл бұрын
Hi Raven. I show how to make a wash in my latest video, to air this upcoming Thursday or next, called "Ultimate Dungeon Walls." However, it's for terrain only. I'd never DIY wash and use it on a miniature. Minis get pro washes only. I use Citadel washes on all minis. They are the best. Thanks for watching!

Good stuff, Professor. I think I get too fussy with my paint jobs; things would go a lot faster if I used more washes. Can I water down regular paint to use as a wash, or is it better to buy remade washes?
@DUNGEONCRAFT16 жыл бұрын
I make my own washes for use with scenery, but on models I always use pre-made. They're expensive but last a long time. They're worth the money because of the consistency.

There's several recipes for making washes can also mess around using oil paint thinned easy way down or even inks. Experiment with things it's fun, if you mess up can always strip the fig and do it again Sam.

I just picked up my second pack of these, hell man I just use craft paint and they look just fine, people give craft paint way to much hell. Personally I made the weapons brass color, and I made the hood sky blue on the one. Anyhow yours look great

I'm going to be painting my first couple minis soon. I've got Golden Fluid acrylics from altering magic cards as well as other, slightly lower than economy level acrylics. I'll probably be using these to start, but I do like the way these washes work. Wash means something totally different to me though, as somebody who did a non-zero amount of art in college. I'll probably also pick up a couple of metallic paints for metal and weapons.
@josephskiles3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewl9191 congrats to taking your first step into the hobby bud, yeah definitely get a couple metallic paints they add something to the other colors that makes a great effect when used with a layer of regular acrylics I think, though beware they definitely spread different than regular acrylics ( you'll get what I'm saying as soon as you start using them). I love using metallic black for almost all my black painting ( and use it to make washes as well), I also use metallic red often as a base coat for red to cut back on the chalk look, and I use a metallic sky blue for magic effects ( and for lightning bolt patterns on my growing night lords army). Anyhow have fun and just remember it's ok to mess up, acrylics are easy to fix because of being water soluble!

@@josephskiles So I've so far painted 3 small minis and a zombie ogre, which was much larger. My Golden Fluid acrylics plus a couple from Grumbacher did pretty well. I ended up finding some metallic silver and some metallic bronze. I wanted to look for one of the washes that I kept hearing but couldn't tell when I was at the shop what I was looking for. They had Citadel paints. I all turned out pretty well. They're hopefully going to be featured in a short 30-second video. If I remember, I'll try to link it somehow?
@josephskiles3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewl9191 glad things are going well for you! The washes should be on their own part of the shelf ( at least that's the way I have always seen them), personally I always just make my own with paint, water, and a squirt of dishsoap . My homemade wash has always been good enough for my needs
