hey AJ I dont know why , but this brought me back . From passing on creature lore for so many shows . Perhaps it is , because most people tend to focus on creatures , and how to ahem make them expire. This is a very unique item it gives the feeling of a magical antique show . Adding a one of a kind experience . I'm not sure why , it is very appealing.

The mythology I’m familiar with is that Raxaxvart used the Spindel to make countless copies of himself. Any magic used to track him down just locates the closest Xvart. As such, I don’t think there Are any female Xvart or young.

I used this in an extremely high level campaign once, like start at 17 and ended in epic levels, where most of the gods were dying due to the plotting of a lesser evil deity Ubir and had chosen each player as their successor. They had to retrieve this, bring it to several different temples, one for each of the 7 gods, and thwart this scheme. Was a fun time with absolutely overpowered characters at the end fight, like one of them swung a mountain at Ubir and another turned a sea into a glacier to hold him.

A perfect point to bring up something that will definitely spice things up. Primus isn't the only prime. There are the lost primes. Some are still recognized, like "the ladies three", but most are forgotten by all except the most powerful entities. The primes are eternal, as they emerge from the fabric of reality itself. The first of these will be mentioned here.... VUHL-DRAZZIK (VOOL DRAH-CHICK). The prime of zero. Lord of the Lost, Pfaltzgraft of the forgotten, Marquis of the missing. He dwells on the five layers of the lost plane connecting Hades and Sigil (Neutral, with Neutral Evil tendencies). Given his embodied concept, he's ridiculously powerful. The fact that he has NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in the multiversal politics is why he is left alone. If you'd like to hear more, let me know

@@AJPickett Back then, there was only bare-bones literature on the outer planes. However, we noticed geometric discrepancies in the planar model. Interstitial planes connecting concordant opposition with the other neutral planes. We also put forth the notion that the fabric of reality would inevitably breed it's own embodiments. So, i set to work on the prine numbers. A little taste of this Vuhl-Drazzik... All the memories stolen by the Styx/Lethe become his. His realm is littered with lost/vanished cities, libraries, people. Anything wiped out by a disintegration spell appears in his realms. He knows everything that the universe forgot. Rumor has it that a young and beautiful Baba Yaga vecame his consort, trading her beauty for a wealth of secrets. Gods PETITION him for audiences to consult him. He's notoriously uninvolved in the celestial wars. Mentioning his name around anything stronger than a greater demon/devil/celestial will automatically get you a LOT of uncomfortable glances and unwanted attention

The infinity spindle seems like it's perfect for an endgame adventure. The party wants to achieve godhood and instead of hiring a bard or having the party's own bard spread the tale of their exploits they could travel to where the infinity spindle is. Yet after getting and using the infinity spindle it may be best to take it to Celestia and securing it there. Yet giving it to a deity such as Bahamut may be wise. No demon would dare invade Celestia and anyone stupid enough from a dragon god would get obliterated.

I imagine that many of the Higher Powers would want to get their hands on the Spindle as well, that's just too dangerous to be floating about the Multiverse. If Higher Powers say of Celestia did get a hold of it I could see them only awarding it temporarily to those they feel were worthy to be granted that power level & who they thought would be a good asset against Evil. Still that's a McGuffin that would have everyone & their cousins after it.

I think it could be amusing to find the Infinity Spindle, especially if, once used, you don't need to keep it to maintain your new state. I don't imagine Graz'zt as a deity, most of the time, nor know if he actually lost anything when the Spindle was taken, apart from pride, or if Raxavort actually needs to keep it, apart from insatiable greed, but an option for godhood is cool. My problem...is 5e. I actually really like 5e, most of the time; they did some really cool stuff, and made several classes, and character options, much more versatile than they might have been, in the past, but my biggest complaint is always as a DM, my usual job, and finding ways to actually challenge players. 5e oversimplified some things, and monsters are often one such thing. Even massive, powerful single monsters just die under the action economy of any party remotely close to their CR, and magic, which almost every character CAN have, is practically the answer to every defense. A great adult dragon; something that had lived for centuries, will die in what adds up to 18 seconds, even airborne, and players can just bust their way through almost anything. "Gods" fare little better. In 5e, we've had Tiamat and Auril, and I wouldn't say either really felt "godlike", in their powers. Tiamat is an engine of destruction, but She still feels like "just" a dragon fight; a big dragon, and Her values are high, but doable. April is worse. Even with three forms, she can be bested by 10th level players, unless you draw Her Roc into it, and while She has some neat powers, the Frostmaiden just doesn't seem too oomphtastic. She's being punished; I get that, and a fair bit of Her power isn't available while She continues to defy the Overgod, but Demon Princes unexpectedly drug to the Underdark are considerably more dangerous than this actual deity. I almost fear when Wizards will actually slip Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul into something, as these three are powerful, bur basically forced to remain as exalted mortals, on Toril, unless they also give up and return to the Outer Planes, where their influence here will lessen. I can't expect much for them, if Auril is any indication. To borrow from our visiting Demon Lords, the end of that campaign even suggests maybe storming the Daemonweb Pits, and punishing the Spider Queen for Her antics, so a group of 12th level, or less, players are possibly able to storm an Abyssal layer, and challenge a Greater Power in Her actual lair? Enough of my whining, but in 5e, I'm not entirely sure what kind of "advantages" a demigod would have, when even some of the above feel more like "just monsters". Nothing like 3e Deities & Demigods feels like it was referenced for them, so I don't know what abilities the Spindle would grant to someone, or what 5e stats for even Raxavort would look like. We have Graz'zt, but his stats seem more in line with typical Demon Lords, assuming he didn't lose powers with the Spindle, so what would a 5e demigod look like, mechanically? Even Call of the Netherdeep, which features something akin to a divine champion, exalt, or demigod, his stats don't seem particularly awesome. Ideas? Maybe I'm just pining too much for select elements of 3e?😊

that's the problem with boss battles. as tough as any given one is, it's still intended to be defeated. And the moment you give an immortal entity like a god a health bar, it's no longer immortal. it really opens your eyes when you realize just how much of game developing is _pretending_ the monsters have a fair fight.

You say "good job, you killed a lesser aspect. Now that god is pissed at you and unlike demon lords do not have to wait 99 years to do something about it. Role for what horrible curse you will have until you either gain the favor of a god as strong or stronger or manage to appease your divine stalker" you don't have to let them win even when they strike the last blow when it comes to divinty. Mortals lack the means to inflict lasting damage to gods. Not even talking the string arguement where a small portion gets sheered off. Mortals can't even do that much without other divine beings interfering. Just a very momentary setback that is then immediately punished. Maybe have about 20 solars show up?

**about to leave KZbin to game** AJ Picket releases a video **sticks around** No regrets. No wonder I'm addicted to AJ Pickett videos. Infinity Spindle, nice. That would have fit in nicely with my Loom of Magus universe. The main (now pretty much extinct) ancients were the Crystonians, their magic/technology/power was crystech, crystal technology. I also have rules for divine ascension. The Spindle would have been a coveted cheat device. I also have a campaign option for a "fallen god" campaign where the players create enhanced characters with divine ascension rules already in play. Advanced players only. Die as a mere immortal (killable immortal), which you start as, or survive the advanced flak to ascend to godhood... something that an adventuring new god cannot keep without a constant fight. It's amusing when a newly (re)ascended fallen god (player character) tries to take on a god directly. They kick them right in the ego. Yes, I'm one of those dinosaurs who had the D&D boxed sets, including the Immortals one.

gods are ultimate expressions of a part of the universe/multiverse, sort of like living breathing walking talking infinity stones. thats why they have portfolios. demon lords are also expressions of aspects of life or death in creation, but are alien in origin and therefore corrupted and agents of corruption. so, god of love, and demon lord of debauchery and corrupted love.

Demigod can come from number of worshippers. So if enough xvart still believe, Raxavort may remain a demigod even without the spindle. Grazzt once held a god captive if that tells you anything.

Ive scoured the internet and havent found ANY information on the spindle...lol my Warlock/Philosopher Deity of Death and Necromancy already possesses the Infinity Spindle from an 12 hour session in the abyss and yet i have no abilities to give the device! I'll simply store it away until more useful information pops up. Raxavort is a total weakling by my characters standards by the way!😂😂😂 It was a good battle against demons though with only limited losses on our parties part.

As is the way with very powerful artifacts, it will have a bunch of slots for random powers, some good, some bad, but the main brunt of this one is that it grants demigod powers. Nuff said.

Raxivort got his divinity via back-door means (Infinity Spindle, an old tool of Io), not from Io directly granting him divinity and inscribing his name in the Tablets of Fate. In your Xvart video, you mentioned that since Raxivort wasn't included in the Tablets of Fate, he wasn't covered by the protections that the tablets granted divine beings. This lack of protection was the reason why he was always running away and hiding, creating xvart clones/copies as a means of foiling divination spells. What are the protections that the Tablets of Fate grant divine beings but which Raxivort isn't covered by? I ask because I figured out another back-door way for my abjuror wizard to attain pseudo-divinity (phenomenal cosmic power with trans-planar nature), and I wasn't sure how my character would be vulnerable compared to traditional gods.

The tablets of fate only concern the gods of the world of Toril as far as I am aware. They seem more like a contract with Ao (kinda sorta), but info is sketchy at best.

Another great and informative video! Love & Fear this idea for a game lol. Out of curiosity could you elaborate on the a couple of things for me please. For starters you said one must have it on their person so if you loose the item do you loose the benefits? Second you mentioned that only being of equal or lesser power may affect a Demi-God? I have heard this but find it kind of weird for game play. So a Rank 0 would be immune to level 9 spells from a regular character? Some how I find that a power flow chart type scenario would make more sense. Like spells & magical items must be of greater level than their rank or suffer disadvantage. While if they are in the domains the Demi-God also has advantage. Idk lol

I just said that Demigods are immune to being instantly vaporized by a spell or power thrown at them by a lesser being.. so, they can't get one-shotted, but, that is far from invulnerable to all harm. And as far as I know, one must have the spindle in their possession, I don't know if that means on their person, or simply own it, and are on the same plane as the object.

Dear god are those viper trees? I know this is the abyss and I'm not super surprised. I mean each plane and layer of abyss or other evil realms have some horrible stuff. I just never thought about a viper tree thing before. Makes my skin crawl

Again at 6:12 the auto generated captions "the desires of these treasures overcome his fear of breasts wrath well I imagine" Because often AJ's videos don't include text to show you how the name or title of certain things are spelled, I try and us the captions but obviously they're wrong. So, how do I know what he's talking about?
