Dragon death always makes me think of the mental states of Dragons before they pass. Dragon Magazine explored Dragon Psychosis where it details their mental health and the various conditions they contract. I can easily see a red dragon contracting gold fever like Smaug, or hording magical knowledge to such an extent that spell scrolls are literally spilling out of their dens.

17:30. Garax. My first 3E character was a chaotic neutral half human, half red dragon, who was a worshipper of Io. After more than a decade, in a particularly epic campaign, he ascended to become a lesser god. Portfolio of fire, destruction and renewal. Didn't know about this guy somehow, though it doesn't really matter. He, and the other player characters, were given a new reality to be in charge of. "Congrats on becoming a god, now go away". Lol
@genobreaker10545 жыл бұрын
My friends kind of gave me crap for that portfolio selection too. they said it made them think of a phoenix rather than a dragon. I was going for a volcano. A volcanic eruption might destroy everything around the mountain, but apparently the leftover lava rock and ash serve as excellent fertilizer for plants, thus building up and renewing the land.

In my games, the dragon heart is the dragon egg. It must be placed in the proper environment to hatch. The dragon is the same dragon. It either begins to recall more as it ages normally or if it is reminded of its previous lives it can age more quickly - even instantaneously. I came up with this idea when I wanted to make Venomfang into the BBEG in Lost Mine. So, most of the time, the 5th level PCs end the adventure by fighting an Adult Dragon and its minions.

The crowd source book sounds fun. i'll hafta look at that more indepth. I run a custom campaign that might benefit from that sorta thing. The world is different than standard fantasy faire. Racial languages don't exist; regional languages are predominant. Steel isn't global. It's only produced in the northern kingdom. bronze and brass are the global standard for metal-work. As far as fantasy races go, humans and half-humans are the player options. I'm experimenting with a custom version of warforged. Most of players either extremely love it or hate it. I don't get many players that are middle ground interest.

@That80sGuy19725 жыл бұрын
I make Dragon deaths an Elemental transition relative to the Dragon unless the Dragon is allowed to brace for impact in combat to be destructive with death blows. Evil Dragons usually bring a boon in their deaths to the area (environmentally speaking) if they did not brace for the death with retribution. Great video AJ. I see my Loom of Magus is a bit incompatible with Forgotten Realms at times, but it is a very tasty divergence. Also, the "standard" Dragon Age of 1200 years is a guideline. Some can greatly extend their age by delaying how long it takes them to get to the next age category. For my 2nd Ed player character dragons, age category (12-category system), the age category is equal to the highest level achieved * 0.55+1, round up that maxes out at 12. Player character dragons really throw the time table off. Most put off being 12 as real (game) time starts to apply to getting old.
@AJPickett5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 1200 years should just be a basic ballpark figure, I have seen charts with different life expectancies for dragons based on their type, but really, it's not critically important information.

Something that bothers me about gods in DnD is the worship, as if a deity guests worshipped less than the minimum required for its rank it loses its power, but how accurate is that rule? Like many of these Dragon gods probably lost most their followers as they existed since IO was alive, now are they lowered to Quasi-Deitys? Also if a Dragon gets worshipped as a god by millions does he automatically turns intu a Dragon Ascendant or he needs the blessing of Tiamat or Bahamut to get that status? And even if any mortal gets worshiped by millions as a god does he instantly or gradually becomes divine or is it necessary for him to steal or be given a divine spark??? If that was the case a few Arch-Fiends would be gods by now... And they are not. We may never know. 😢
