Interestingly, Sarah was softballing it with the pteranodon. As a medium creature, she had to play a Small character to ride on it. A Giant Owl is also CR 1/4, is Large, has the same fly speed, better strength and hit points, and also has the flyby attack power. Not to mention better senses.
