I'm a huge fan of Dungeons and Dragons. I've been a DM since '84, and I am now a collector, of first edition Advanced and everything earlier. I've been wanting to play this, but I have poor vision, and can't read the instructions. So your channel has been a HUGE help! I have all three of these games; Ashardalon, Ravenloft and Drizzt. I think I read somewhere, that you can link the games together, for a bigger adventure. Thanks for all the great videos! They are extremely informative, and fun to watch =)

It must be fun to play against you with your DM skills! I am glad you find these helpful. I know you can use any character from the different games in your runthrough, not sure how to link the adventures... will have to look into that!

Probably to cheapest way to get some really nice miniatures. 40 bucks. AND you get a great game to boot, perfect for solo gameplay. So glad I got this. Thanks!

Ashardalon is quite impressive for sure!

As you discovered, characters of a non-human race often have a race skill power. For instance, Castle Ravenloft's Dragonborn fighter has a dragonborn skill, which looks about the same as the Dragonborn wizard's skill here. There's also Eladrin(elf), Half-Orc, and Dwarf and maybe more in other games. I think you can mix games and a cleric in one can use a cleric's skill from another. So the Dwarf cleric in CR could choose a healing skill from this cleric, as well as use the Dwarf skill from this fighter 20:11. But I think the trick is to have attack skills that can hit more than one monster or do more than 1 damage, which seem to be daily or utility powers only, so just one use, unless you find a card that lets you reset them.

Right, it sounds interesting to mix games and try the different combinations that become possible.

@@MeepleVillage I bought Legend of Drizzt this April. My fighters, rangers and rogues are a little more powerful because they can use Utility Powers and Daily Powers from either set. When I play C.R. I add the Hypnotic Spirits into the deck. When I play LoD I add Ghouls and Spiders, as well as 3 treasure cards: Scroll of Teleportation, Potion of Rejuvenation (flip up a power) and Dragon's Breath Elixir (which is an attack that doesn't count as an attack, of which there are none in LoD). I feel I'm lacking Gauntlets of Ogre Power (+1 damage) from this set, as well as something that gives +2 AC like one of the shields (although they do extra stuff too). A +2 sword looks OK, too. From my first play of C.R. I felt that since this game uses a d20, getting a +1 to hit or +1 AC treasure might not do anything for the rest of the adventure so are pretty useless. Having 13 heroes among the two sets, that means there's 78 possible pairs of heroes. I haven't played them all. But it's unlikely I'll find a team that turns out to be super good that I didn't realize. It's probably best to have one hero that attacks adjacent monsters, and one that attacks monsters 1 tile away.

I do enjoy your unboxings, I am clearly catching up on them, they are informative. To cut the story short I have ordered the game. I follow four or five gaming sites, two are hard board wargaming, hexes and armies. For the rest, if the lass, your good self, likes then it will probably do. Works for me. My wife is not a board gamer but I have lured her because of your suggestions. She will kills dragons, so somehing I have always considered women should do. Thank you for your hard work.

Thank you! It is comments like yours that keep me going! Make sure you check out the boardgame chats as well. In one of the latest episode we talk about you and your wife ;-) May she kill more dragons!

The rules in Castle Ravenloft shows the bone dragon on 4 tiles with its 3x3 base covering a wall. So I guess they just "suck it in" when going down a hallway that's 2 wide.

Castle Ravenloft treasure cards don't have a gold value. So there must be something to do with gold (in a village?), or as you said, a campaign?

Possible, something must use it

are you able to get more monster cards for these board games?
@MeepleVillage Жыл бұрын
Definitely, you can mix and match monsters from all the adventure games in the D&D series, you can watch some of the other videos to get an idea of what monsters are included in Castle Ravenloft and The Legend of Drizzzt

@@MeepleVillage so if I want more cards that don't come in any kf these sets., where can I find them ? For example, tomb of annihilation doesn't even have a Tyrannosaurus (not sure why!) Or any dinos really. Is there a dnd product that has more cards I can use?
@MeepleVillage Жыл бұрын
@@Mikearcana777 That, I am not sure about. they probably want you to buy the games so they can make more $. I would say, look for second hand cards, people might be willing to part with certain components they no longer want.

Shame they never translated this game in my language. It really seems like a less fiddly, quick to setup dungeon crawler, which is kind of unusual for the genre.
