Incredible performance. This was one of my favorite sets of this shortened season. Intro - Great. Really nice ideas with the setup and formations Saaps - I think there was room to capitalize on formations more: for instance, 2:55-3:20, the team was in the same "general" formation of 2 lines/clumps, though during this 30 seconds there were 2 saap "hits" at the chorus drops. You all could have taken much more advantage of this to diversify and contrast the hits as a means to add an extra dimension and depth into the segment. Dhamaal- Very cool concept of combining multiple bhangra segments together. Shoutout to the blue male in front at 3:40 with his great nakhra. The back dhamaal line was too conservative with their energy. Sure, the focal point was meant to be the front line, but I would have loved to see more nakhra, intensity, and "oomph" from those in the back. Very interesting and refreshing segment overall, interlacing dhamaal, giddha, sialkoti, lehriyan, etc. Khunde/Daangs - Nice transition out of the previous segment. Teams tend to have a difficult time transitioning to a props segment, especially after a significant tempo change, but this was planned well and not rushed. The khunde hit ideas were nice. However, with certain complex moments like these, it became easier to differentiate the newer and veteran dancers based on their ability to hit and sell these more intricate ideas. This was also apparent in the other segments too. Jhoomer - Enjoyable. The body roll was great and the overall flow of the segment worked well. Not a big fan of the last 8 counts of the segment - They just felt superfluous. Next Dancing Segment - Great buildup and chorus hit. Really well executed and planned. The attention to detail is great with the back two semicircle lines all facing inwards to emphasize the 3 female dancers at the hit (7:28) Mirza - 7:56 - minor critique but it would have been nice to expand this formation to not cover the side 2 lines in the back during mirza. This segment was all in all refreshing and its hits were creative and risky. The 2 different spinsin 8 counts was a great idea, but definitely needed some more cleaning. A possible fix could have been to cut the first spin short on count 4 of 8 @ 8:07 to 1) better standardize the counts 2) emphasize the contrasting two spins 3) create better flow into the the subsequent spin. 8:20 was great. Ending - The choreo and synchronization were very good. Several of the dancers took a step back in completing this routine with the same fire and intensity that they maintained earlier. Overall, I was a fan of this routine and performance. There were great risks and a lot of attention to detail in its creation. I imagine deliberating between 1st place in farishtey and 2nd place in DDR must have been a difficult task for the judges. Nonetheless, congrats DDR!
