He was IN SHAPE during these years. Even more fit during his ending in LA. Validates Kobe’s comment of how much more they would’ve won if Shaq was more dedicated to the game.
@ko7577
@ko7577 Жыл бұрын
Which is a pretty funny comment considering Kobe only won 2 after Shaq left lol Even old ass Shaq took home 1. Prime Kobe in 12 years only grabbed 2. And that's because there's more to the game than conditioning. I promise. Hack-a-Shaq rules had more to do with that than you think. He was so damn good that people were allowed to intentionally foul him. That's the crime of the NBA's existence. You try going in "in shape" when 7-foot tall 300 pound guys are going to hack you to pieces every time you move. People forget this part of it, and so did Kobe. Kobe didn't have people pile-driving him in the lane every possession. It's also a funny comment given that Kobe killed them with 38% shooting in the Detroit series, so that loss was his damn fault. Wasn't a thing Shaq could do because Kobe wouldn't pass the damn ball. That's not dedication, that's sociopathy and caring more about your own numbers than your team. Either he was getting an NBA Finals MVP or he was sinking the Lakers. And he continued to sink them for 10 out of 12 years. Lakers were complete fools to keep him. With Phil Jackson coaching Lebron, they'd have won way more than TWO. Anyway, if Hack-a-Shack had resulted in what it should have: two free throws and a possession, Shaq would have won for the next 12 years. And David Stern knew that. Dude was in a Finals at 23 years old - on a team that had a losing record just three years before. So that pretty much limited him from there on out. He had to beef up to handle the football they were playing against him, and it was a liability on the court. The NBA set that up. That was never fair.

I enjoy seeing Shaq playing basketball with his size and speed and pure dominate all over the post during his career playing with Magic,Lakers,Heat and Suns before he came out of shape when he was playing for the Cavs and Celtics that's just my opinion.

He was old as fuck dude. Boy is over 7 feet and 300+ pounds at that point, the fact that he made it off the bench ever is a testament to the fact that he loved basketball so much more than you think. He should have been in a rest home by that time.

After Shaq retired teams no longer needed to carry a 4th center or big PF on the team to eat up fouls and min on Shaq that is how teams played him back in the day. Look at 76ers, Pacers, Nets and Kings back in the first 3 peats for the Lakers all had 1 extra big man than you would today and usually not very skilled
