Thanks for the review! For D606 and MT21 we swap the front at 4000km and rear at 6000km... which aligns with 2500f/4000r miles. Everyone gets that front wear pattern for both brands: your Dsports will do the same on the front it will just take longer.

I had good luck running the Kenda K270 tires on mine in Arizona. The knobs are more closely spaced then the D606, but that actually works better on hard packed dirt and gravel roads. And I ran those tires up to 100 mph on pavement. They are good for about 2500 to 3000 miles on the rear and double that on the front And I did not get any of that weird wear pattern on the front tire. The D606 might be better in mud but on gravel roads the Kenda is actually better. I also have a tire pump called the Mountain Morph, and it works really well for changing your tire pressure between street and dirt.

I’ve had the D606 on my DRZ and they were great tires. But when I went to replace them I could not find a set in stock so I went for the MT21, which worked very well too. I was going to get a set of D Sport but at the last minute I opted for the EMEX T45. I leave for the woods next week let’s see how they work

I have the D sport on my KLR and they wear exactly the same and mileage is the same too. What I do not like is vibration and noise. Next set will be Motoz dual venture front and Rallyz rear…expensive but 6K miles.

Good to know! I'll have to check out those tires!

My front did exactly the same. I ran them low pressure with tubliss. My rear performed flawless until it was on the nylon after 11000km

Had my set for 2k. Same riding conditions as you (AZ/CA Desert). Fronts wore well, just aged crackedbetween knobs. Rear was done at 2k. Curious about the front knobs breaking off. Good vid.

Very interesting discussion on the Dunlap tires and tires in general. I would not buy those d606 is again I would try something different.

My front tire did the same thing. I run a Pirelli MT21in the front and a D606 rear. I wonder if I have been running too much/not enough psi when on the road? Or do they all just do this?
@precipiceofgrind Жыл бұрын
Good questions. How's the MT21 holding out?
@thumpersquid Жыл бұрын
@@precipiceofgrind The Pirelli MT21 has been a great tire for both off road and on road. The wear is not as extreme as your tire and have logged 2200 miles since installed. I have another set of the same Pirelli /D606 combo ready to go but I will likely get another season on them. Where I live there is a lot more mud than rock, so I believe most of the wear I get is from road riding.

What's your comparison wit the Dsport? Considering both for my KLR, as well as Shinko 244 (and maybe 804/5).

All fronts that alternate single-knob->double-knob wear that way on dualsports: with the double knobs wearing down at 2x the rate. Fiddling with pressure does little: just decide to replace fronts at 2500m/4000km and stick to it. Your MT21f/D606r combo is what many consider the best dualsport combo: congrats!

Just had another person comment on both these tires, definitely checking them out!

hey, how yould you compare the D606 to the MT21? Will the D606 behave much worse on tarmac? I ride the MT21 and do a lot on road to get to place that I can finally do a bit offroad. Too crowded around here. With the MT21 I feel very comfortable on the road without feeling I go much slower than I would do with road tires... .

Can't compare since I have no experience with the MT21, sorry amigo. The only issue I had with the 606s on asphalt was that they were LOUD. When I'd ride on the interstate, those things would howl.

@@precipiceofgrind Good to hear, people seem ti be confident with the onroad part on D606 👍. I read a lot about MT21 in front and D606 in the rear. The D606 looks to me like a good substitute for the Michelin T63 what isn`t availabler any more :(. I consider to give the D606 a chance in the rear and stay with MT21 in the front 😎.

Good video. I’d recommend not shooting in such a wide angle. It distorts the picture and keeps us from seeing a realistic picture. It makes it harder to see the tread. Not a huge deal, just my thoughts.

Knobs coming off. Would you say that's from road (asphalt) wear?

I wonder what shinkos are some other inexpensive tires would be like cuz it is 3824 miles and fried be just as good maybe and less expensive cuz money is expensive....!!!!

You might give the Kenda K270 tires a try. The front tires do not chunk like the D606. They kind of have smaller closer spaced knobs. However, that type of pattern actually seems to work better on hard pack dirt roads, maybe not the best for mud, but on gravel roads, they rock the rear is good for about 2500-3000 miles and the front double that.
