It may be worth contacting Avon, I ride a Yamaha fzs1000, I tried Avon Spirit after a motogymkhana instructor recommended them at a gymkhana meet and the grip in the wet and the dry was phenomenal compared to my previous Bridgestone. The tread depth is a lot deeper than any other brand out there and I managed 11,000 miles before I had to replace them, they grip from the moment I leave home, hot or cold, wet or dry, I can’t recommend them enough. When I replaced them I couldn’t get my hands on Spirits so I had Avon Storm 3Dxm fitted, wet grip is very slightly down on the Spirits but still excellent, I wouldn’t hesitate to have them fitted again. These too have deep tread, high silica content, 3D siping and warm up quickly, really confidence inspiring. They scrub in easily too, 10 mins on a car park doing figure 8’s and circles in both directions and they were scrubbed into the edge of the tyre.

On my second set, got 9000 miles out of first set. I ride all year round in all weather, never had a moment. I ride a Tiger 1050 solo and two up with panniers and box. Would absolutely recommend them.

Would have thought that tyre manufacturers would jump at the chance to sponsor such a worthy group as blood bike with all there tyres !
@markholroyd53653 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it’s a cost thing but we get through so many tyres and we have 15 bikes so it would be a huge undertaking. That said we (Cornwall Blood Bikes) are hugely grateful for any tyres we are given. Ride safe.

@@markholroyd5365 Hey Mark, great info, free tyres for your group would be awesome, but could they give them to the group's at cost or there abouts? Keep the shiny side up everyone 👍👌🌈🌏💞

9:00 When it comes to how fast a tire heats up, that's very much a thing. A warm tire always has more grip then a cold one (until it reaches it's max temperature.) As an example, my Metzeler M9RR's gets warm in 2 minutest even if i ride smoothly and carefully. I live 2 minutes from the gas station where i always check the air pressure before riding, and the tire is warm to the touch by then. They also warm up nicely when it's wet. Basically that means there is a lot of rolling resistance and friction in the rubber compound. Good thing if you want to stick to the road. But not good for mileage or fuel economy.

I had Dunlop Roadsmart 3's on my ST1300 and they were great in wet or dry.
@paul46274 жыл бұрын
That's good to know Fred D. I've just put a new one on the front of my ST1300 to match the new rear the previous owner put on it. Both were manufactured in France but I have heard tales of some that are made in China I think it was, 🤔 not being up to standard.

Well done Mark , nice video and I didn't know about the association , i'll google it to discover what you do it . For far as I Know we don't have blood bike in Italy , and I didn't saw also in Ireland where I was leaving and driving my bike for 4 years.

When I was a young biker you could get Barum tyres, they were fitted as standard to MZ bikes and they lasted really really well with the only problem being total lack of grip in the wet and hence lack of confidence. I note that the Barum brand is back for car tyres but I’m sure they are not the same. Anyway the bottom line in my opinion is that all tyres are some sort of compromise between cost, longevity and grip. Choose any two!

Hello Mark, enjoyed the video, as always with your videos! I’d be interested to know at what point would the Blood Bike riders decide that it was too dangerous to go out on the bikes, with regards to road conditions?
@markholroyd53654 жыл бұрын
We have a limit of not riding when it is freezing. However because of the geography of Cornwall I have started off a job in 5* but have found myself an hour later in -4*... That’s the chance we take. If you are not happy though you can always use your own car.

Why can blood bike riders use blues and two’s to make good progress it’s always confused me nice review they are on my short list when change time comes stay safe ride safe 👍👍
@markholroyd53653 жыл бұрын
Hiya. Some groups do use the lights and sirens but in Cornwall we took the decision not to. Lots of reasons why but the obvious reason is that our insurance would sky rocket and without proper training it doesn’t take long for the ‘red mist’ to come down and then it becomes dangerous. In my previous career I was trained in blue light driving and to be honest we don’t need them. Ride safe.
