Love my SX300 Tours--definitely a racquet I didn't see myself switching to but here I am. It's whippy and stable and good at everything, without demanding too much. (For reference, my previous sticks were the VCore 95, Gravity Pro, and Blade Pro.)

I think they have been making a comeback ever since Srixon bought the Dunlop tennis division from Mike Ashleigh. Personally, I'm really liking the SX300 (300g) strung with Signum pro plasma pure and I prefer it over the head extreme mp. Also, the CX range may be worth considering for a demo along with SX range depending on your play style

ok, I was not going to make any comment, until Areg said that it is an unknown brand, I know that I am one of the oldest on this channel, but not knowing dunlop as a brand is heresy, I recognize that since wooden rackets are no longer used, Dunlop hasn't come out with many standout racquets, but today pros like Kevin Anderson use the brand... or ask John McEnroe what he thinks of winning grand slams with the Dunlop Maxply Fort. Anyway, great review from grisha an nikita , Areg failed in the history of racket brands so I failed him in the review... hahaha

Thanks for your comment! I understand what you mean but the fact that the brand has been there for a long time doesn't make it known nowadays. If you compare it to other brands (Head, Wilson, Babolat etc.) Dunlop would be considered unknown. If you ask about Dunlop rackets in Europe, most people won't even know they exist. Also, it's almost impossible to get one in a retail store, because there's no demand for them here. It isn't a new brand that nobody knows about but it's not the most popular one by a margin. Areg is not trying to offend anyone or not give the brand the credit it deserves. So don't take his joke too close to the heart.

@@gladiatorstribe you took my comment too seriously :) , I perfectly understood that Areg's comment was to be funny, I tried to do the same with my comment (I see that I'm not as funny as Areg...hahaha). By the way, Dunlop is a European Brand from England ;)...Peace and Love

hello guys. im thinking of upgrading my racket. i rn play with a low end racket which i had bought few years back(babolat pulsion 102) ..its very light and lacks stability and feel . im gonna get a new racket but im not able to find a raekt for my play style.. i can generate a lot of power myself so ,have a swing path similar to niki and i like to hit flat forehands and topspin on low balls which tend to go deep in the court.. also ii have a single handed backhand.. id place myself in the advanced category.. rn im looking for a more control oriented racket with good stability and feel. can you please help me select or atleast narrow down my choices that suits my playstyle I binge watched all your racket review videos'😁😁(btw which were awesome!!) and could narrow down the rackets to yonex ezone 98 , vcore 98, or pro staff 😅

Hey Glads, I currently use a Pure Drive 2018 and I hit with a lot of spin in my shots. As I've progressed, I feel the power is too much for me and I'd like to shift to a more control-oriented racquet that would still support my highly-western topspinny (if that’s a word, but u know what i mean 🤦🏽😆) forehand. I have a flat backhand tho, so am a little bit worried to shift to the Aero. I am currently looking at the 2022 Boom MP and Speed MP, also Pure Aero *VS* and Vcore 98 on the side. A general suggestion for a frame would be good from you guys 😄 Thank you!
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
If you hit with lots of spin you should be getting plenty of control with the pure drive. The spin is actually where the control is with the pure aero and pure drive. You swing out big and the spin drops it back in. Not enough spin your shots can sail. by control here I mean consistency of depth and stroke when playing bigger margins. What it doesn't have is the best directional control/precision for precise targeting. In other words, not the best racket for high risk aggressive play where you aim close to the lines. The pure aero Vs would be a great choice if you want some of that pure drive/aero DNA but in more contained package with better directional control, a lower launch angle, and less energy return. This is the move Alcaraz and Rune made, switching to aero Vs from pure aero 2016 (the 100 standard version) and pure drive respectively. However, no free points for ego moves. You can't outgrow a pure drive level wise. Your style can grow away from it or never work with it to begin with though. So my suggestion would be to make sure you're thinking of a more control oriented stick because you actually objectively need more help with controlling the ball because of your swing style. If it's a problem with fundamentals, your actual technique, you can only mask the problem to a degree by going to a lower energy return racket. It can also potentially benefit your game and save your money to invest some time into customisation. You can improve things like control through it. Depending on exactly what it is you want.
@adityapotla5061
@adityapotla5061 Жыл бұрын
@@sjjapp yep, in normal rallies I can easily manage to hit in, but I also put in a lot of my own power in the shots many times which makes it go out. But this wasn’t the case when I played with my friends radical mp, I could not hit smashes but my power was well enough for some pace-y shots. However, I need a little more power from the racquet than the radical mp offer. Heard the new pure aero offers more control than the previous one, and that’s what I felt the previous one needed a bit of when I played with it. So going for it
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
@@adityapotla5061 you got more in with the radical because of lower energy return. it means more energy is lost as you swing through ball. A lower launch angle with the radical will also drop the ball shorter. So you have less energy and a shorter distance the ball goes. Hence, more balls in. With a pure drive, you either need excellent timing on flatter shots or a lot of spin on full swings to keep balls in if you're even swinging with any sort of pace. Simply put, if you're hitting too many out there's not enough spin on the ball relative to the pace of the shot. I would say increasing tension would help, which it would (higher tension lowers launch angle, therefore resulting in less distance travelled) but the pure drive is a stiff racket. You have to be pretty damn elite to string a pure drive high and not get injured, or the opposite of elite (or be very lucky and have a very resistant arm when it comes to injury). Note though that at the pro level many players are playing with setups more powerful than a retail stock pure drive. Factor in heavy swing weights, static weights, and excellent technique/timing etc and even a very flexy thin beam racket becomes powerful in the right hands. This is also backed up by data. A pure drive isn't even the most powerful proper racket available at retail. You may be surprised to know for example that the Yonex Vcore pro 97 330 hits a bigger ball if the player can effectively get it moving. That's the heaviest version of the Yonex control line. My point is you're not missing because you put your own power into your shots. Some of the biggest hitters on the planet use far more powerful setups than most amateurs use, and it's not the racket doing most of the work. You're not bringing enough control to the ball. But that's not necessarily meaning you need to stay with the pure drive and work on control. It could simply be a mismatch, the pure drive not working with your swing. The pure aero, the new one especially among the pure aero gens, will help more with keeping balls in. It's essentially headed back to something like the aero pro drives. It has a slightly more controlled nature. Better directional control. A bit more tamed. Looks pretty cool in my opinion too, the new one.

This is a very honest review of one of the worst racquets I have ever owned and I've owned hundreds over the years. Truthfully, I don't think it's totally the design and what the designers were after but it is Certainly the manufacturing which is abysmal. Something goes wrong with the injection of the Boost material into the frame that significantly changes the specs of the racquet. The boost injection is not consistent and hence why the specs are all over the place and the twist-weight sky-high making it clunky and difficult to manoeuvre with the caveat that it's ultra stable ... but who really cares if you have to lug this stiff yellow heifer around. And to top it all, very little feel again because of the inconsistency in the Boost injection. Until they get the manufacturing right on these racquets, stay away.
