Dunna Did It Again. This was very useful. I purchased an A7IV last month and have been carrying a 740g 24-70 on it all the time. It's very front heavy and has me stressing out about whether the E-Mount will wear out or break over time from how front heavy it feels. Then I see people carrying their cameras like shown in this video, and I think... well, the mount must be strong enough to withstand the weight! Thank you.

I've actually moved to an even more sleek system (but requires you to use SmallRig base plates - needed anyway if you want ARCA Swiss and grip extension for pinky) that is used to hold rifles to straps by the military. It's the QD (quick detach) system. I use a Magpul strap and QD swivel that attaches directly to the SmallRig base (I've attached a safety tether too).

So many great practical gear recommendations. Being able to quickly attach and detach your camera makes shooting so much more convenient. Love the tip at 5:39 on the PGYTech quick release plate clamp. I’ve been looking for something like that but could only find products for other brands. I already use the PGYTech beetle clip on my backpack strap. I plan to use that QR plate clamp on my Ulanzi MT-47 compact tripod. It’s one of the few mini tripods that can support heavier camera rigs. With that clamp I can quickly put my camera on that tripod and jump into group pictures with family when we’re at restaurants. No more having to tighten the plate to the tripod. Excited to use it that way. Appreciate all you do to help creators.

I will definitely try this! I never really hit it off with the straps, even though I have the PD Slide and Leash. I just don't like the camera dangling around on me and having the anchors on the camera is annoying. So I've just put a PGYTech clip on each side of my backpack and that is the most comfortable way for me to carry my camera(s). I just don't want to run around with a backpack 100% of the time.

I have tried the capture clips and I just don't get on with them, so I've just gone back to PD Cuff if in an area for a while taking photos, or while walking to take the strain of the camera weight off, use a Black Rapid Strap. If I need to use a tripod BR make an Arca Swiss plate that allows you to still use their strap....

Damn. The strap mount isn’t even available anymore with the link you gave. I ditched my neck strap 2 years ago in favor of a PD clutch. Strap kept getting in my way. Hated the dangling. Yeah the new alternatives look nice and I‘ll probably take a more detailed look into them but for me that won’t get rid of the Ankers on the Camera. Because if I use the clip i use those to attach a safety lanyard anyway. First it’s acting as a failsafe in case the baseplate gets loose (already happened and it was expansive) and second it’s securing my Camera when I‘m holding it outside of the Clip. 🤷🏻♂️

Hey dunna can you use the falcam f38 plates in the pgytech quick release base?
@kqschwarz3 күн бұрын
This all sounds great, but what prevents me from using any of them is they cannot be used with a camera that has an Arca-style L-plate attached. One would either have to take off the L-plate, carry that around separately, and then remove the capture clip accessory and reinstalling the L-plate, if one wanted to use it. Sure, one could screw the capture clip accessory to the bottom of the L-plate and leave it there, but then the advantage of a sturdy L-plate is lost when photographing in landscape mode and the nice flat surface on the bottom of the camera is lost, making the camera always sit crooked when setting it down. For me, the ideal capture accessory would work with any Arca-style L-plate and not require a separate capture clip plate. All the best.

There's no way to mount a QR plate to the left side of the L bracket. My suggestion is to look at a Smallrig rotating bracket that is made for your camera. Then fit a PGYtech QR plate on each of the 2 base plates on that rotating bracket. I attach an anchor link to the rear QR plate as one of the points for my neck strap.

I find the Falcam F38 Quick Release Strap plate have the 2 anchor points so close to each other that when I sling my camera behind my lower back, the camera will pivot on that point and roll left and right as I walk. Very uncomfortable. I prefer to put an anchor to the bottom QR plate and an anchor on the left eyelet. Much more stable and comfortable.

I kind of agree and kind of disagree. That definitely helps the camera to sit nicer against the body like what I showed in the final setup... But I tried it like that for a long time and found that about 70% of the time, the anchors got in the way of working with the tripod.
