Dunna Did It Again. This was very useful. I purchased an A7IV last month and have been carrying a 740g 24-70 on it all the time. It's very front heavy and has me stressing out about whether the E-Mount will wear out or break over time from how front heavy it feels. Then I see people carrying their cameras like shown in this video, and I think... well, the mount must be strong enough to withstand the weight! Thank you.

So many great practical gear recommendations. Being able to quickly attach and detach your camera makes shooting so much more convenient. Love the tip at 5:39 on the PGYTech quick release plate clamp. I’ve been looking for something like that but could only find products for other brands. I already use the PGYTech beetle clip on my backpack strap. I plan to use that QR plate clamp on my Ulanzi MT-47 compact tripod. It’s one of the few mini tripods that can support heavier camera rigs. With that clamp I can quickly put my camera on that tripod and jump into group pictures with family when we’re at restaurants. No more having to tighten the plate to the tripod. Excited to use it that way. Appreciate all you do to help creators.

Thanks for all the helpful tips! I like the idea of the Falcam strap clip system with the Peak Design Strap or whatever strap works best for you. I watched a video on placing one of the Peak Design anchor connectors onto a tiny little plate mounted on the bottom of the camera to put the camera in a better position against your body. However, that method means you can't quickly connect it to a tripod when needed. This system would make all of that a breeze, while still keeping the camera in a better position against the body.

I am heavily invested in the Falcam (aka Ulanzi? Not sure) system, but one issue with their F38 plates is that not all of my arca-swiss tripod heads (I have many) can close far enough to lock on to the plate (but they all lock on to my over 20 arca-swiss plates and camera cages). This is a particular issue with my Falcam camera cages (with built-in F38 plates), on them I have to sometimes attach an arca-swiss plate, totally defeating the interoperability between the Falcam and arca-swiss standards. A bit maddening. My emails to Falcam on the issue have been ignored, and my review of the system on their website, which they _asked_ for, was deleted by them (it was full of praise for the system, only this one flaw).

I hear this 100% The falcam plates are SUPER small compared to some of the others, which can be frustrating and another reason why I really like the PGYtech plates, but it's frustrating when Falcam comes out with something cool (like the adjustable modular cage thing they made thats super cool) but it ONLY works with f38 plates and everything else is too big.

I find the Falcam F38 Quick Release Strap plate have the 2 anchor points so close to each other that when I sling my camera behind my lower back, the camera will pivot on that point and roll left and right as I walk. Very uncomfortable. I prefer to put an anchor to the bottom QR plate and an anchor on the left eyelet. Much more stable and comfortable.

Excellent video. I too am using the Peak Design clip for my camera backpack shoulder strap. BUT -- I found their clip to be TOO small, as my backpack shoulder straps are wider and thicker than what the Peak clip is designed for. SO -- having a strong "make-it-work-no-matter-what" mentality -- I went through some agonizing effort to get the backpack strap to fit inside the Peak clip. I'll admit the Peak clip is on the strained side. The Peak clip needs an upgrade to enlarge the shoulder strap screw-on clip.

Yeah the new alternatives look nice and I‘ll probably take a more detailed look into them but for me that won’t get rid of the Ankers on the Camera. Because if I use the clip i use those to attach a safety lanyard anyway. This all sounds great, but what prevents me from using any of them is they cannot be used with a camera that has an Arca-style L-plate attached. One would either have to take off the L-plate, carry that around separately, and then remove the capture clip accessory and reinstalling the L-plate, if one wanted to use it. Sure, one could screw the capture clip accessory to the bottom of the L-plate and leave it there, but then the advantage of a sturdy L-plate is lost when photographing in landscape mode and the nice flat surface on the bottom of the camera is lost, making the camera always sit crooked when setting it down. For me, the ideal capture accessory would work with any Arca-style L-plate and not require a separate capture clip plate. All the best.

i like the idea of using the plate on the shoulder strap, but if the camera is coming off with a quick release plate why would you buy the magnetic release type of shoulder strap? like what's the point of removing the baseplate from the shoulder strap? I get getting the camera off of the plate but why didn't they just create a strap with zero magnetic attachments since quickly removing the base plate from the shoulder strap isn't really necessary... it's removing the camera off of the baseplate without having dangly stuff on the sides of the camera... Or am i just not understanding? I feel like the only reason to do this setup you show is to switch from one shoulder strap to another shoulder strap. I'm wanting a system to go from a shoulder strap to a backpack, and then maybe to a ronin without attaching anything to the camera other than the bottom baseplate.
@dunnadidit13 күн бұрын
You can use ANY type of shoulder strap with this accessory. I just use ones that I already had around. I'm not 100% sure which "magnetic" shoulder strap you're referring to as I don't think I mentioned anything magnetic. But from the last part of your comment, I think this setup would be perfect. You put a plate on the camera, it attaches to the strap clip, your backpack clip, and to the tripod. You can put it on any strap you'd like by attaching the strap to the accessory the same way you would normally attach the strap to the camera.
