'Our strength is our character' - What nonsense, every team is a collection of players who have more or less character. That's just like saying we're no good at football, but have 'character'. The first part of that last sentence is definitely true. Also how can you play to your strength of having 'character' in a football match? Do long balls or playing like Spain emphasize this 'character' more? I like Dunphy but he sometimes talks through his ass, this is one of those times.

I would interpret character to mean motivation,,, desire to play,,, fight,, never giving up,,, never being afraid of your opponents,,, all valuable to a winning team,,, Liverpool would never have won the 2005 champions league on talent alone for example

mike the Knight to say Ireland are the worst team in the world is harsh. Ireland got to the last 16 of euro 2016 and are in the play offs for the world cup at the expense of wales who were semi finalists at euro 2016. Under martin O'Neill Ireland have beaten Germany, Italy and Bosnia-hercegovina, all decent teams. I would accept Ireland were poor before big jack arrived.
