Dunu's SA6 MK2 Review - A month as a Main IEM

My choice in this price range has been the Xenns Mangird Top. It’s just a well balanced sounding IEM that does everything I need. It makes me question whether I need to spend more.

I completely agree, i also have the 7th acoustics supernova for a different experience, and no need to go beyond, have heard the monarchs and few others, do not see a real reason to upgrade over this for the difference in cost!

I found the Azla SednaEarfit Light Short work fantastic on this iem, much better than the Xelastec and other collection of eartips I have. The only other eartips that come close are the Tangzu Tang Sancai.

I'm looking into a second hand set of campfire audio Dorado 2020 but they arent too far off the price of these dunu sa6mk2. Mostly listen to electronic music with detailed and prominent bass required. I tend to go towards a V shaped as I feel it compliments electronic music well. How would you compare the two?? Would love some feedback 😀

I like these better but they are different class in presentation. Driver configs. Id put the variations against the tribrids, this against skuld and fearless.

I never got to go head to head with the ultras so it would just be subjective from memory. You can tell though they are all in the same family.

I listen to mainly pop and indie rock with female vocals mostly. Torn between these that come with the great cable and the Monarch Mk3. Thinking it’s best to save £400 + whatever a new cable may cost but a part of me is like no, get the more expensive one- because it’s more expensive so must be twice as good!

Yes that another level up. keep in mind the law of diminished returns but i definitely prefer the mk3

i got the s12 pro after watching the review on this channel and i'am very happy with it and i almost got the skuled or whatever it's called, i got the chance to listen to it and it was a huge disappointment everything sounded clear and crisp but there is no sound stage, no air, everything sounds congested and inside my head, it felt like someone was pressing the music inside my ear and wouldn't let it breathe. so iam confused about this channel now because many reviewers consider the sa6 mk2as a step back from the ultra and even the OG sa6. so be careful with your money and get as much information as you can before buying. i live in Japan and i'am going to TOKYO in December to visit the biggest IEM shop in the world to try on as many as i can and get one, its between the monarch mk2 and the prestige LTD but who knows

Do you really like the S12 pro ? I added the z12 pro toy collection and haven't picked them up for months. Always pick up the XINHS HS3 instead and they are half the price.

I used to be like you. When I first saw the fr graph SA6 MK2 I was very skeptical. There's no way this is going to sound good. Moreover, I already have a Monarch MK2 as a daily driver. But on the other hand, I'm curious, why Timmy Gizaudio and Z's review praised this iem so much. Finally I decided to buy it (in my country it is very difficult to find a shop that provides demo units). And it turns out he really is that good. Now I almost don't even want to use the Monarch MK2 anymore, except for ear resets.

These if you like mid bass and a lush tonal density. Monarch MK3 if you want sub bass and sound stage.

@@IM-nt6ql SA6 MKII is the thicker and warmer sounding of the two. It has more mid bass while the Monarch MK3 has more sub bass and soundstage. Also MK3 has better female vocals.

@@sleepyrhythms6668 Thanks this helps. Being an all BA set how does the overall bass quality compare with the monarch? (I have the Etymotic Er4Xr which I absolutely adore but the BA bass is probably its weak point, its not bad but could definitely be better) I tend to like warmer signatures with lush vocals but I'm leaning towards saving up for the monarch especially if it is a better technical set. Thinking I can just bump up the mid bass through eq if necessary. Also thinking of getting the Audeze LCD X as my over ear headphone. That plus the Monarch would probably be my end games...or with that info do you think the SA6 would pair better?

@@IM-nt6ql SA6 MK2 has really addictive bass. It hits harder and is super fast. Extremely tight and punchy having great extension all the way down except the last little bit. Definitely a good all rounder with excellent timbre. Monarch is a bit more consistent and natural having a sense of filling the room. It’s very immersive in its sub bass presence with less overall impact compared to the SA6. Both are great in sub bass extension but MK3 is on another level for how deep it goes. One thing about the SA6 though is it sounds great off anything. To make MK3 shine you need a really good source to showcase its dynamics and detail retrieval like a DX320. MK3 has a weird slightly bright treble too but that’s resolved on warmer sources like the amp 13 on my DAP. If you don’t have a high end DAP I would go for something like a Cayin RU7 since it’s warm and has a slightly analog and natural sound.

Yeh thats a big step up, im not sure of the current market on mkii's but if the price difference can be swallowed the mkii are still one of my favourites of all time.

Maybe this is strange, but I have both and I like the SA6 MK2 much better than the Monarch MK2. I suggest you try the Monarch MK2 demo first before deciding to buy it.

The cable that comes with the Ultra and the MK2 is better than the Hulk in my opinion. The Hulk is just too big and bulky. This cable is literally perfect. I love mine.

Actually i can see the argument for that. Sometimes the original hulk feel a bit unbalanced due to the thickness of their gauge. This cable feels a lot fresher and better suited to resin shell earphones.

I´m using this iem now also for more than a month and its just soo good. First u think its to "warm" but after ur brain is burned to this sound. Everything! sounds fuckn boring and i have the u12t as my main iem

Yeh i feel coming from the Skuld as my main IEM it was a far more familiar transition for me. When i recommend the Skuld and people finally try them the feedback has been universally positive so anyone picking these up should have a similar experience but it is strange at first going back to an all BA sound due to the inherent properties of the tech.

@udes-dj3xy "ur brain is burned to this sound" I'm glad you said this, I thought it was just me, but it feels like I have to adapt to an earphone My very first headphone was Audio Technica mx40, when I first wore them, I thought too much base, as they were the only pair I had I wore them and got used to them. Now after all this time if I put them on (rarely) I immediately think too much bass, I've been de-tuned

@@seth1455 Yeh its often what people mistake for burn in. In most cases i suspect its just your brain adapting to a new normality. Like jumping in some cool water.getting in you feel freezing but after a while it feels normal. Same with out ears. That initial pull away from the norm can be jarring on first listens..... its another good reason to not completely dismiss an earphone without significant time with them.
