For the first time i heard this on the plane, flying back home after visiting close relatives. It was so heartbreaking not to know when we were gonna meet again. I played this over and over during the 8 hours flight. Now, 7 years later,i finally found this masterpiece ! It brought back all the good memories !

We so often hear this played so divinely on strings, that it's easy to forget that it was originally composed for the keyboard. This is how I imagine Dvořák himself would have liked to hear it performed. A splendid rendition !

Dvorak himself orchestrated the pieces, it's not like he didn't want the orchestral version, it was just cheaper at the time to compose smaller works and have them performed, and eventually orchestrated. Many composers, even those that enjoyed success while living, didn't always have orchestras at their disposal to test larger works. In fact, when Dvorak composed the Slavonic Dances, he was rather unknown. As composers make a name for themselves and earn more, they start to compose for larger ensembles.

Not only was the music breathtaking, but I appreciate the way it was filmed. It’s was very artistic, and quite a few shots added to the beauty of the piece. This song gives me such bittersweet chills... It reminds me of my own Slavic childhood.

Consummate musicians, both !I cannot imagine a more beautiful performance of this piece.A brother and sister duo - they both shake their heads from side to side and react to the beauty of the music with their head movements and faces in an uncannily similar , and charming, way - the awesome power of genes !

Wow, I have never listened to opus no 72, no 2 in piano before and I must admit I was skepitical. But I am now impressed I must say, more so by how good Sergio Tiempo and Karin Lechner are. The first and second last movement or dumka was very passionate and deliriously good, with an emotion you can not get from an orchestra, at least not so easy and effortlessly as it is for these two. However I will add that something overall is missing in the piano rendition that only an orchestra can give. The music overall was a bit lacking, not as powerful and as full and overwhelming as it is with an orchestra. Interesting to think that this piece was originally written for piano for 4 hands. But when all is said and done I still give a huge bravo to this performance! Bravo!

@@AdoraBelle207 Another thing that might confuse you is that there are two sets of these dances, Opus 46 and Opus 72, which consist of eight dances each. The dances of the second set are sometimes numbered separately from the first and sometimes as numbers 9-16. Both Opus 46 no. 2 and opus 72 no. 2 (a.k.a. no. 10) are in e minor, but are otherwise very different except that they both end in E major.
