Thank you for all of your efforts, my IELTS score was 6.5 and I was the valedictorian student when I had to do a high advanced English level and I graduated with 85 out of 100. Somehow, I had 115 overall score in Duolingo while I needed to score at least 125. I detailed results the least was 90 in production ; the ability to read and speak. What is your advice for me to score higher and what should I add or alter in my speaking and writing to get at least 125 :(

in my opinion, an essential historical invention to our society is a cell phone,cell phone effected alot on our society before we did not have cell phone people went to a far place to talk with thier relatives now every person have a cell phone he or she can easily talk from thier homes.before calling rate was expensive but after invention of Mobile phone we can talk with a cheap rate then invention of Cell phone impacted a lot on our society and our nation.

Great response! In your first sentence, I would put a period after the first "cell phone." Then I would begin the next one with an article "The cell phone affected a lot.... " I would also end the next sentence after "... to talk with their relatives." (New sentence: "now every person has a cell phone.." Remember to end sentences with each new thought. The other thing is remember to always include an article with nouns: a cell phone, the cell phone, or make it plural when speaking in general about cell phones. Overall great job!

Sally My scrores are low at Conversation (Listen and Speak) and Production (Write and Speak). My first time score was 105 while I need minm 125. What are the ares I need ti improve and how can I improve them? Any video on Production part?

Production is any of the speaking or writing tasks. My advice for practicing these would be to practice with any questions like for IELTS, TOEFL, or even tests like SAT. For the speaking, you can set a timer and record yourself and go back and listen. Make sure your thoughts are organized. Also pay attention to your pronunciation. Make sure you're not speaking too quickly or too slowly. For writing, you can make sure that you are focused and not going too off-topic.

Its usually 3-7 times for c-test, audio yes/no vocabulary, visual yes/no vocabulary, dictation, and elicited imitation. No one gets the same number of anything, so its not possible to know exactly. The writing types is usually 4 writing type questions and 3 speaking type questions.

You can use either British or American spelling. They advise that you try to stay consistent and regularly use one or the other.

This one drives me crazy! I think sometimes it can depend on your camera. I would advise take a selfie with your camera and see where it looks like you are looking when you take the picture looking at the camera. On my webcam, I have to look about 2 inches below the camera for it too look like I'm making eye contact.

I'm sorry you're having problems getting the score you need! Speaking can be so hard! I think the best thing to do is to get some of the practice questions- any questions. Record yourself answering them using your phone. Play it back and really listen to your answers and then record yourself again answering the same questions. It can be any questions- toefl questions, Ielts questions, SAT... any practice. Also work on pronunciation. You can listen to dictations (i have some on this channel, and there are other teachers on KZbin with them, too). You can use them as 'repeat after me' again, record with your phone and listen to your pronunciation. If it is very different from the recording, keep practicing that sentence. The more you do it, the better you get and the more you start to hear your own mistakes. For writing, I like to have students read short articles in online sites like Wikipedia or newspapers, then have them write short responses of their opinions. It just makes you used to reading and responding to things you read. The more you practice, the better you get at it. You can spend some time on this type of activity every day and improve quickly.

I wish I had a quick answer. I think the best is to look at your subscores and see where you're getting the lowest points, and start there. I like Wikipedia for practicing C-tests and vocabulary. I think its good to record yourself reading short sentences to work on pronunciation -listen to yourself and see if you can re-record and improve. I also like IELTS and TOEFL essay prompts to practice both speaking and writing.

In my opinion ,one of the important invention is computer. Scientist first time invented computer in a large size .I think so the size of this computer is around about room size. But the said invention is awesome for the purpose of knowledge close through out the world people each others. Later on, scientist gradually reduced size of computer to laptop . This invention has been developing students as well as employees countries etc. Finally , I say the new invention is important for all developing countries with out new new invention ,Its impossible to survive the country. "one of the important invention" - if you have one of, that implies more- so be sure to make 'invention' plural in this sentence. In your second sentence - make 'computer' plural or add an article (all nouns must have either a plural or an article for only one). "through out -> throughout" "with out -> without" I would also suggest to make a new sentence with "Without new inventions, it is impossible to survive." - it's a new thought, so it should be separated from the previous sentence. Today topic 2)Means of communication .different means of communication? .what is your favourite means of communication? What r advantage and disadvantages? Communication means Information transfer from one person to another person . There are many ways of messags forward from one place to another place . Like laptop, Telephone, Mobile, Television etc. But my favourite communication is Mobile . Cell phon with out wast your time contact to your lovers short time. It is less cost device and just recharge internent pakage thn you just away only from click your mobile with out high payment as well as wast of time your information ll reach your concerned person . There are some hazardous too. Firstly, Cell phone is electronic device if any problem ll raise thn u ll pay more cost on them as well as around 70% chances too , cell phon left work permanently. Secondly, Many people , Cell phon only uses for the purpose of watching dramas , Move etc. My view is that , it's totally wast of timing . Finally, My idea is that, Now a develop country behind the main story is communication , If she has the advance technology to forward messages of business from one country to another thn she ll be a successful country..
