Yes, I really enjoyed the video. My wife lives in District 12 HCMC. I feel very safe walking around the neighborhood at night, not so in my own neighborhood in Southern California. The people are much more friendly and happy that my fellow Americans. Even though I was an active participant in the "American War" in 1970 I have been treated with kindness and respect. I really like learning about the Vietnamese culture and experiencing it first hand. Much of Southern California culture has been been integrated in Vietnamese culture like "Happy Birthday" and wedding receptions.

Thank you for this video. I've been living in Viet Nam over five years and find it one of the friendliest places on the planet. VN citizens are caring, generous, kind and mostly honest. When I first came, I was invited to teach English and dealt with a male business owner; subsequently, each female employer I've engaged has always tried to pay me as little as possible - including paying me less than I originally made five years ago. After dealing with one woman in particular, I left the teaching industry but still love this country enough to marry and make my home north of Ha Noi.

Vietnamese women have always have a place in society. Let's not forget that many parts of Vietnam were based on matriarchy, even under Chinese occupation, the Chinese failed to erase that. Thus during even the harshest Chinese oppression, Vietnamese women can still own land and properties. Among the earliest kingdom in Vietnam was one establisted by a pair of women. The Trung Sisters gained their kingdom by leading armies into battles with the Han Chinese in the year of 40AD. There were many famous female military commanders in history of Vietnam such as Ms. Trieu, Le Chan, Bui Thi Xuan, etc. Vietnamese women is anything but weak or submissive.

China has influenced many countries in Asia: Korea and Japan but calling Vietnamese Chinese is wrong and disrespectful. Vietnam and Vietnamese have developed their own identity and although they have borrowed things from China; Vietnam is Vietnam. I don’t think any Vietnamese would like to have a foreigner saying: you are just a Chinese. This could even be considered highly disrespectful.

Mr. Duong, thank you for this video. . I am a retired American who spent an entire month in HCMC in the fall of 2019. My apartment was located in District 4 in the Copac Square high-rise building. I did not know what to expect as this was my first visit to Vietnam. I fell in love with HCMC and the Vietnamese people. I found the Vietnamese people to be extraordinarily warm, congenial and friendly. I developed close friendships with a few people during my visit and had several interactions and conversations with many friendly people at September 23rd Park as well as other locations. HCMC is also extraordinarily vibrant, unlike American cities. I was also amazed at how safe HCMC is. I could walk around at any time of day or night without any fear for my safety. Most of the police officers I saw were not even armed with firearms. I had a marvelous visit and hope to be able to return for another extended stay soon. I watch nearly all of your videos and I often see locations in your videos I remember being at during my visit. Best wishes to you.

This is a really excellent introduction to living in Vietnam video. I have been coming to this great country since 2018 and it was really love at first sight. This is a country on the move and I think too many people abroad still have pre-conceptions rooted in the distant past, although this is starting to change. I think Vietnam is poised to move up rapidly in the international rankings over the coming decade.

I did over 10 years ago have a Vietnamese partner for 18 months but she had to return to Vietnam from Australia due to her visa expiring. Now my eldest son is dating a Vietnamese girl who recently arrived to study in Australia & she love the fact my partner and I are so heavily involved with so many Vietnamese people here in Melbourne, she wasn't expecting that at all, & now my son wants to visit Vietnam with Vi. Always enjoy your videos thoroughly educational just have to wait for that retirement visa. Cheers Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia. 👍 🙂 🇦🇺 🇻🇳

GDP of Vietnam with a population of 100,000,000+ compared to Singapore (6,000,000 population) is a non-comparison. You need to compare apples with apples. Must compare Vietnam with Germany that has the same population. Compare China with India...

Many good points you have brought up thank you very much especially to dispell stereotypical ignorant ideas.. Vietnam is very progressive and I can certainly see the female business owners Being a larger point and that's rather funny compared to American women who want to brag and say they are Independent or Liberated when in fact they don't have the guts to have their own business most of the time.. After living in multiple Asian countries I would have to say the Vietnamese woman is The most beautiful and brings her culture along without a lot of conflict or insecurity.. These women are stronger and tougher than most men and have a history of survival yet still soft as silk and they know they're a woman. 🙏🙏

Vietnamese are similar to Chinese, Koreans and Japanese in that they are success oriented and work hard. Japan and China still use Characters and this will keep them from the next level of development economically, their legal structures and acceptance by the rest of the world. Korea chose to get rid of Characters and now use very few (and the language has changed a lot in the lats 30 years). The Korean alphabet is the most phonetic and easiest to learn in the world. And Vietnam does not use Characters so it will pass up China and Japan going forward. I know it sounds silly to think economic development is partly based on language but it absolutely has a huge bearing on development. Kids spend so much time memorizing Characters in school they have little time for development. Modern legal structures are hard to define with Characters. And of course, few foreigners will ever learn Characters so those countries won't benefit from foreign talent and influence.

100001 foreigners working in Vietnam seems incredibly low. In Thailand there are 3-4 million. In the UK where I live 15% of the population is a foreigner. What do you think is the reason for this?

Maybe because foreigners don't like pollution and flood in Vietnam. Hanoi is now the most polluted city in Southeast Asia, and torrential floods are now common across the country from North to South due to corrupt Vietnamese Communist regime's chopping down trees and excavating sand for personal profit.

On these very small streets there are very large villas. In those very big villas, there are very young ladies. These very young ladies are the concubines of very big officials. All these big officials has a very small briefcase. In that very small briefcase there are very big projects. Very big projects, we all know, bring very small results . Having been married to a Vietnamese wife for nearly 11 years I can see the fallacy of all of these lies about Vietnam. The idea that Vietnam is a patriarchal society is one that at least in my experience is false. The men may have flashy titles, but in my experience, it is women who run Vietnam. True story: walking through Hanoi with my father, he asked where all of the men were...I saw a coffee shop ahead and said wait I will show you. Sure enough, they were all sitting in the coffee shop (middle of the day). Again, my experience but Vietnamese women are ruthless negotiators.

you are too quick to jump to conclusion. Heard of count chicken before they hatch? VinFast will be one of the few companies to go down under in the near future. Only suckers will buy or chase a company that has "zero" foot print, especially in the US market. Impossible to tap into US market when you are up against Tesla, who own pretty much the entire EV infrastructure. Second player is Lucid but they are no where close to Tesla. Perhap they own 3-5% of entire market share. NIO is trying to get in the US for years but they will not make a dent. Anyways, it was absurd to see Vinfast have a market valuation higher than Ford, GM, and several leading car manufacturers combined! The only answer for such price spike crazy valuations is because the brokers are only allowed to buy with no option to short. Thus creating an illusion of demand. However, as we speak Vinfast stock price is coming down to earth and creating a sinkhole. It is just a matter of time before it will be less than $2, and reverse split from there. I've been trading for over 20 years, and I have seen so many companies go down under in the same format. For those considering to throw money into VFS thinking it is a bargain at this price, good luck is all I can say.

Hello. I really enjoy your videos. I am looking for an investment of around 50000 dollars. Where will I move to live in Vietnam? I would appreciate it if you could send me several examples of the apartment.

Eye contact is considered impolite in VN culture! Perhaps if you are good looking, I don’t think you’ll having any problem with the eyes contact especially in Vietnamese women. I’m about moving to VN to retire as well soon. I’m too ugly so I don’t expecting any eyes contact from anyone especially from the police lol

If Vietnam is not equal, there is no place in the world that is more equal than this country. Women are gentle and always take care of their families, they do housework and are good at domestic work. What is certain is that they are always great
