Shane: The Ghost of Christmas Past: Representing the brutality and inhumanity it required to reach a point of hope for the future. Hershel: The Ghost of Christmas Present: Representing the ability to hang onto or reclaim your humanity and community. Sasha: The Ghost of Christmas Future: The sacrifice sometimes required to keep hope alive for others/family. Michonne, et al: The representation of Hope and Family. And why doesn't anybody ever comment about the awesome camera shot of flaming walkers falling off of the bridge after it exploded? Maybe too emotional? It's still a great shot. The Walking Dead 2.0 will now commence. shhhhhhhhhhhhh

Still not over Andrew leaving the show :( but we understand as well, he said he planned on leaving in season 8, but knew the fans couldnt handle Carl dying then Rick leaving so he waited it out a while and Angela Kang, left the door opened for him, seeing Daryl and Michonne crying it was soo heartbreaking :( and seeing Sasha again was amazing and heartbreaking :( some fans like myself wanted to see Glenn again. I love how well-crafted this episode is, from start to finish. It hits all the right notes, and is as emotional on subsequent viewings as it is on a first watch. The sequence from when the group shows up for real to when the bridge blows up is especially well done. The accompanying musical score with this was just perfect. You hear a slow variation of the Walking Dead opening theme. Then as that slow, sad melody is going, you hear a countermelody of the more frantic main theme start to come more into prominence until it takes over. Just very well done.

You guys were some of the only people to ever watch this episode and get the full impact of it. Everyone watching live knew Rick was leaving sometime this season as it had leaked during production and all the hollywood trades and youtube channels were talking about it months before the episode came out. So AMC started advertising this as Rick's last season and after the cliffhanger last episode they straight up said this was his last episode in the marketing and promotion of this episode prior to airing. There were also theory channels on KZbin and Walking Dead forums discussing the thoery of Rick leaving in a helicopter instead of dying, based on the helicopter being teased several times without being paid off yet, and Morales referred to Rick as "helicopter boy: in the first season, which is now really cool episode unintentional long-term foreshadowing. It was really cool to see you guys watch this episode completely blind of all the hype surrounding it at the time and be taken completely by surprise by the twists of Rick dying, then not being dead but leaving against his will with everyone thinking he's dead, then the ending that surprised all of us with the 7 year time jump and Judith shooting Walkers with Rick's gun saving people. Great episode made even better by awesome cameos from long dead characters who had a big impact on the show that we never thought we would see again.
@patmcconnell99564 жыл бұрын
I actually appreciate how conflicted and clusterfucked you two felt by the end of the episode. It shows just how much you are invested into this show and the stories these characters endure. A lot of people, including myself, could never have imagined the show without its backbone Rick, but it really has been the best it's been in years. The quality of writing and ensemble of remaining characters really do make up for Rick's absence; I hope y'all will see that.

Hey guys! Yes, it was a roller coaster ride but they had to send Andrew Lincoln out in a big way! We were so glad that they didn't kill him and we didnt know how they were going to exit him but we knew it was his choice to leave. On the "Walker Stalker" tour four Season 9, while he was on the panel, he announced his departure so I wasnt thrilled about that upcoming season because we knew he was leaving. But to see how Angela Kang did it and jumped 6 years of a time jump, it made the blow of losing him and another a lil easier because we know he didn't die and they are to make supposedly 3 major motion puctures by Universal about his journey and the group that took him. I hope its soon, with this virus it has only delayed both the new sequel of TWD which was supposed to start this summer and the delay of making the 1st movie. I will miss him so, so much but 9 years was a long time to do one show with family abroad! But its getting ready to get good now, stay with it and you'll see the difference of "The New World" even without Rick Grimes!😊
