We GOT RAIDED!! - Episode 22

Well we got raided! just when we thought were were actually getting somewhere we are now set back! felling angry and upset what can we do?
We are on the hunt for the young boys who did all this damage by intentionally breaking our windows. please share this if you live in the uk so we can stop this from happening to anyone else on the canals.
Unfortunately we are now trying to save for new windows before we can carry on, which has set us back on making a couple videos we had planned.
If anyone knows anything we can pass on to police please comment below.

I agree but saying that . Around my area. The children normally do not get prosecuted. The guardians should have to cover the damage. These days it is not like when I was a child back in the 70s . We would have been prosecuted. Then we tended to are parents. No sitting for a long time .

Exactly! Go thru law enforcement, get the kids identified. Then take an estimate of damages (including your time) and the 2 families either cover the cost OR the kids get criminal records for the rest of their lives! Even if the families don’t pay, press charges, kids get sentenced and the judge can order restitution! I’m all for giving kids a break (I raised 2 rowdy boys) but I cannot tolerate needless destruction of property.

My heart goes out to you, I 100% agree with Mr John Miller that 'the parents should pay and that the law of the land that protects kids needs to be trashed immediately'. I am a teacher and confess that so much of the blame for this needs to go to the schools, as well as the home, who have failed to bring up children with the fear of repercussions. The kids' actions are simply evil and the outworking of no discipline. Unless these kids are effectively disciplined for this they will be committing murder for kicks in five years time. I feel so sickened for English society that now protects the criminals and the victims are now the necessary collateral damage that we have to live with. Please make every effort to keep us informed of the full story of this case, as its so important that the world sees everything, particularly the actions of the police and the justice system. Circulate the footage to all the local schools, they will be able to recognise them and then the police can pay there parents a visit, also take out a civil action against them when they have been identified and get bailiffs around to there houses to take away goods to the value of the damage, preferably start withe there TVs and game consoles.

Hello the boy shattered your glass with a tool designed to do it , The glazing can be replaced by carefully prying the glazing beads out using a filler knife the beads will be on the inside of the window ,start on the longest bead and put the blade in the groove between the bead and the frame and lift and push slightly towards the glass . To measure to replacement glazing I measure between the black rubber seals which go against the glass then add 20mm to that measurement meaning the glass will be 10mm either side inside the rebate of the frame , or ask a glazier or a double gazing fitter to help .. I hope the Police give you good news.

Empty boats at the side of the canal have always been easy targets unfortunately, Especially in more built up areas. I think you have to move onboard from day one that's what we did, camping stove, mattress on the floor. It motivates you to get finished and cuts down on travel time.😂 The alternative is a secure marina mooring but that just eats away at the budget. I like the boat, it's a great project and will make a fantastic home, best of luck.

Time to make some "wanted" posters old style, create posters with their zoomed in face on the poster and showing them smashing windows, saying have you seen these criminals, please identify them to the police (give the local police number and police incident number not your number), and say that there's $50 reward for information that leads to an arrest (because they're kids the uk police won't arrest them, so you won't need to pay out), but being labelled criminals with their photo's all over the neighbourhood will hopefully embarrass and shame their parents and hopefully jolt their parents into action even if only out of shame.

Really sick when this type of thing happens. The manufacturer should be able to supply replacement glazing units. I personally wouldn’t fit replacement units until you’re ready to move in etc. I’d probably get marine ply to cover each window, secured inside with wooden batons - easily removed/refitted when you need to. Have a look at Ship Happens, they had similar things happening in the early days of their project. They have a monitoring system in place, something you may want to consider as the channel grows in popularity.

This is me speaking as I would if I were in your position. I am with Priscilla. Consequences are needed, as a Brit and knowing the police won't really do anything except a caution (which I'm sure they've had plenty of), I would - ahem - 'relocate' their expensive looking bikes into the canal. Sometimes like for like is the only way forward. They're bored middle class kids, looking at those bikes they're not poor, so seeing how water resistant they are would be a good 'consequence'. You could even give them both a thumbs up as you launch then into the water. BUT that's just me, I am not saying do that.....Please know we are all rooting for you. I am in awe of all you've done. You're living mine and my family's dream, so we are REALLY standing with you. If my daughter had ever done this she would've been grounded until she got her pension, even if I had to come back as a ghost to enforce it. Thankfully, she was/is a homebody - like her friends - and was likely to help you repair the damage than to cause it. I despair of some kids these days.

Shawn Rhymes here. It bothers me deeply that some kids have very poor up bringing. But it's not just kids these days. Concerning the replacement of the windows, years ago I bought a window for a small shop I built in my backyard, and like your windows it had argon gas in it. Anyway there was a leak in the window and because it was still under warranty, a repair man came to my house and replaced the window on the spot. That was something I didn't expect. My prayer is that those kids get prosecuted and hopefully in the long term, they will be an asset to the community and not the liability they are now. Thanks for posting this video.

Replace the glass with boards to secure it until you can move the boat. The glass can be replaced, the beading on the inside is removable. It’s unfair for you and your neighbors having to chase off the criminals. A more secure place is needed or it will happen again. I worry that once more stuff is inside they will start a fire . The tape will just be ripped off.

You have good images of the two delinquents who are obviously local to the area, so the polce should be able to ID them easily. The move to a more secure area is probably a good idea. There are setbacks with most projects, so don't be discouraged. Your viewers are behind you. When the kids are caught and you confront them, you might explain to them the punishment of keelhauling.

Absolutely gutted for you guys. Any glazing specialist will be able to supply new glass, it's pretty easy to fit and not that expensive. Trade Smart are good if your in the Thames Valley area.

Sadly this is the world we live in and its getting worse . When budget allows put on some sort of heavy duty metal window shutters that can be locked . Good luck with the project .
