Saw this live when they were in the Netherland back then. Always thougt Big Thing was there best album (still do). There was a documentary on tv the other day, spanning their career and leading up to Paper Gods (which is a great song as well and the album is not bad at all), but Big Thing was never mentioned. Strange !

I saw them on Christmas Eve in Birmingham on that tour. The quieter songs were drowned out by too much volume from the whole band. Everyone left singing "Take me every morning, take me every night!" and I got my mum to put the local radio on so we could hear all the girls ringing in to talk about the show.

Love it!! I saw them on this tour early 1989 at the fox theatre in downtown Atlanta. I got within 2 feet of touching John. I was so let down, when I couldn't just touch him for a second.

I wouldn't call playing a few single notes 'the hardest part'.. Fact is that this song has so much layered keyboard parts that it simply requires four hands to be played truthfully.. And, yes: "Atmospheric" becomes Nick..:-)

I have this assumption that Nick Rhodes is one of these keyboardists who can't actually play very well. Why is there another guy next to him playing the main bit? Rhodes' hands hardly move.

Because the keyboards have to be heard in the song like in big band music to make it louder and more impressive. And they are probably two different keyboards that sound different than each other.
