Seems kind of sad the today's computer and tech capabilities have kind of kneecapped some young musicians into a robotically clean and perfect box for musical creation. It feels like new music doesn't breathe and is missing that human feel. Too much auto tune, not enough musicians playing instruments themselves instead of sampling. Long live musicians, songwriters and players that master their instruments and collaborate with other musicians to create lightning in a bottle. Duran Duran has stood the test of time. Good music is timeless.

Even when it goes momentarily a bit wrong: "Live Aid springs to mind. Over at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, two famous British bands suffered a nightmare-Duran Duran and Led Zeppelin. And with the former it concerns singer Simon Le Bon and his “bum note”. Hooray! The song in question is A View to a Kill, the band’s 13th single that was released on 6th May 1985. It was written to support the eponymous James Bond film out that year. It was a big hit, so it was a natural choice to include in their set. However, throughout the whole song (which sees Le Bon prancing about energetically), his voice does seem a tad strained. He almost lost it shortly before the big moment. But then it happens: “Dance into the fire. A fatal kiss, is all we NNNEEEEEd.” The world’s media descended on the moment in a heartbeat. It was quickly dubbed: “The bum note heard around the world.” It was compared to Freddie Mercury’s scintillating vocals with Queen during the band’s London performance in 1984, which the media raved about. And Le Bon was mocked mercilessly for his momentary error. And many, many millions of people watching on live TV laughed at him. It’s a strange thing. The note barely lasts for a second and poor Le Bon has had this thing hanging over him for the rest of his life. Here you are now, reading this, and it’s a bit of good fun and all that. But Le Bon has since said it was the most embarrassing moment of his career. Now, it’s easy to mock and jeer. But we can’t even hold a note, never mind sing live to a live arena audience and millions of viewers, so fair play for having the skill (and nerve) to do that."* The comparison to Queen was entirely unfair, as Mr Mercury was notorious for singing live the tricky highest notes a major third, a perfect fifth or even an octave below his recorded performance, often leaving them to Roger Taylor to cover. professionalmoron.com/2019/08/22/duran-duran-live-aid-bum-note/

@@andrewmunoz2109 lol I’m the same! I’m seeing the Pantera reunion in Aug and mainly attend metal shows. I saw Mercyful Fate and Megadeth last fall. But I also have a love for 80s new wave and secured a Duran Duran and The Cure tickets for June in Atlanta. 🤘

I grew up listening to Duran Duran in the 80s like every Gen Xer out there... thanks in part to my older sisters. They played a big hand in my singing, along with Whitney Houston, and RUSH for writing and playing my own music. The spirit of their music was a pioneering spirit that hits so close to home.

Been a fan of Duran Duran since 1983. Have all their Vinyl LP records locked up in a closet mixed with Madonna original earlier works 😂. I was about 100 meters away on one of their concerts in Mohegan Sun a few years back; still the best!! The instruments used are locked in a time capsule. Every time when I hear that certain song. I knew where I was as a teen while the tune played. One word: “Stay handsome” and play on; keeping that dream alive!!

this is beyond amazing.... super performance from the whole band, especially Simon Le Bon, wow simply wow... I love the old songs Friends of Mine and Hold back the rain.... this is the music of my childhood (in Union of the snake Simon asks how many remember Duran Duran from 40 years ago, I am one of those who remembers and loved the reflex and union of the snake from 1980s first playing on the radio........ this Band is so good, wow. May they keep on rocking..... so happy to see this... will go to seem them live if they ever come back to Dubai.. I attended their live show in Abu Dhabi back in 90's it was magical. It was amazing to see the whole band still got the sound, vocals, energy, charisma and star power which was captured on film on "as the lights go down"... super sound quality also in 2022.... much respect to Duran Duran ! These are true rock and roll stars. John Taylor is one of the greatest ever bass players ... Nick Rhodes is a genius with the keyboard, those sounds are so good, Roger Taylor wow that rhythm section with JT, Simon's vocals are ageless (how does he do it?). Tom Brown lead guitar, the saxophone player and both the backing vocalists are so good too.... wow. 40 years !!!!! How many bands can sound, perform and look this awesome after 40 years?
