Bought the album yesterday and my wife dismissed it as a frivolous purchase. After putting it in our computer to play, she immediately responded to the first track saying it was "interesting." Now she loves the song and the album. For me this is one of those songs that just resonates deeply. Mournful and uplifting especially towards the end. Been a Duran Duran fan since 83 and am impressed that I can still be moved by their music 32 years later.

I cannot stop listening to this. This band consistently stays relevant and fresh with each release. I never get excited or moved by even some of my favorite artists releasing new albums anymore, but Duran never fails to get me. This song is beautiful. Listen to those chants, Simon's vocal coming in and the synth/drums dropping. Geezus! This album will be incredible. Thank you, DD.

It's art people; not everyone is going to stand next to a painting and see or feel the same thing. It's funny how a band, after 30+ years, expands their musical wings even further and gives us something a little different and out of the box and people complain that it doesn't sound like their "old stuff". The other thing that's funny is how someone posts on here that they like this new song and they get bashed by those who don't care for the song for having an opinion on it and expressing it. There are a couple of people who seem to be trolling the comments to do just that. It's a shame that people don't have anything better to do with their time. Btw, for the record, I really like this new song and it's 7+ minutes for a reason because of the artistic vision of the artist.

Duran duran never repeat their albums that's the high risk they take but that is what makes them a very experimental and a different band which have no stylistic boundary. They can do the formula albums like u2 and others to gain commercial success but that's not what they are.Its hard to fit duran duran in one particular genre .That is the reason this band is still making albums and performing live in the arenas and stadiums .

Paul Rini are there really any? I feel like Duran Duran has pretty much shed the casual fans long ago and any fan waiting on Paper Gods knows material like RCM and AYNIN and knows what to expect... or knows not to "expect" anything from DD. So far, the two songs I've heard have been completely unpredictable and I'm excited to see what else is on there.

Paul Rini Above else I like Duran''s experimental/ Indy aspect. This was more evident in their early work, but I really liked some of the stuff from last album too. Before the Rain is a good example. This song definitely has some of that experimental vibe about while still having pop elements...but avoids the mess that most tracks on the RCM album was/are.

Ashe Narayan I know, every band has them. Which is fine, they don't bother me. It's the fan that says "the only good albums are 1 and 2- the rest is crap! The band should have stopped years ago"- that's when I get ruffled feathers. Like, fine, you like that really shiny, 80s synth sound, and that's fine, but most of the bands best work has come in the latter two decades, so why should we fans who like their newer stuff suffer because they've evolved and you have not? (this could be true of any band that has existed for a period of time, not just DD)

Good song. I went to see them live for the fifth time in July 2022. I'm one of these eighties fans who began to lose track of them definitely right after the release of Liberty, though I kept on listening to their 80s albums. I loved their comeback in 2003 but after the Astronaut tour I lost track again. Now I'm in a receptive moment to give a chance to all their by me "forgotten" non eighties albums and give them a listen and I'm glad to check that they are all more than bearable to my ear. I believe that after many decades of listening passively to lots of music my ear is used to almost everything. Even dead and doom metal are fine. I know I won't like these DD albums as I do with those of the eighties, but I'm happy to know that in the near future I will be able to know these songs properly as they deserve. Many of these songs tell me that the group did always their best, and I understand that every album was composed and released under different circumstances. For example, releasing Medazzaland and Pop trash without John Taylor. That had to be the worst period for the band, having just Nick and Simon surviving until they got the brilliant idea of reuniting the fab five. It's quick to say, but John and Roger were back 19 years ago and I don't see the end of the band in, at least, this decade. Long live DD!

This is what keeps me obsessed with Duran Duran it makes me smile... I feel the work that goes into there tracks... If you put this on a booming base speaker system it's totally brilliant. The base is brilliant by John, Simons on top form and nicks twiddling like a mad man! And around 4.20 it goes into something out of like the man who fell to earth film! ... The final chorus is more loud and relentless at 5.40 it's totally an epic Duran track! ... Phones and pads and crumby speakers do nothing for this fantastic track!

It's amazing how a 7 minute long song continues to maintain my interest even when I have played it over and over. I don't even skip over the chanting at the beginning when I replay it! There are long songs in the Duran Duran catalog (such as Sin in the City) which I love but still skip over parts because I get impatient. The progression of this song is really fantastic, though, and I love to hear the whole thing.

Paper Gods is the most addictive song I've heard in a long time. At first listen I glossed over it on the way to Last Night In The City and Pressure Off. The second listen I actually "heard" something in the song that I liked... and by the 3rd time I realized I liked it better than Pressure Off. Now, after a number of complete play throughs, Paper Gods is almost always an automatic replay at least once if not more before going on to other tracks. The sound experimentation, the harmonies, reminds me of the Beach Boys on Good Vibrations. I don't think they sound the same, but musically and experimentally they are very similar. Can't speak highly enough of this work... the best thing they've put to wax in years and years...

You think the DD community is enough to get this to #1??? Not at all otherwise every single would be #1.

I'm in total agreement with u. Couldn't have said it better! I love that they still take risks and aren't so damn formulaic like other Veteran bands. U2. I know I'm not going to like everything they write, but I know I will like MOST of it, most of the time!

From 5:39 of this song until the end is like watching beautiful destruction...Nick's extra arpeggio synth takes it over the top...When Duran Duran hit all cylinders they will make you smile and cry at the same time :)

The exact limit between an all-the-same boyband and a fantastic pop rock one.. They're amazing.. It combines a comercial music with great lyrics and well done melody and harmony

Where ever Duran Duran goes when they die is where I want to go, even if it's different from where Peter Gabriel Goes. New album coming. I wish never get old - I'd be Eternal with these guys all-the-way

Wasn't sure about the intro but then that Depeche Mode sounding synth kicked in... Simon's brilliant voice in that amazing chorus with a powerful message BOOM!

In spite of the time, Simon Still has the strenght to innovate and create masterpieces on its genre, and the most important thing: to give a good impression in our hearts. Really AMAZING! THAnks Simon LE Bon and DURAN DURAN.
