Mr. Hartman, Thank you for this very informative video. I ordered a Diamond Pacific Genie, very similar to your CabKing machine. I've been scouring the internet looking for videos exactly like this one. Although you were incorrect on your grit number for the 6th wheel, everything else was very nicely presented. You provided exactly the info that I was seeking. My machine is a 6" grinder and am anticipating its arrival soon. It will arrive fully assembled and ready to use . There are literally thousands of videos online about cabbing and lapidary. The vast majority of them are short, some as short as 5 seconds long. I have been so bewildered and frustrated with these kinds of videos that are lacking any real, or useful information and have wondered why all these people even bothered to post their videos. Some are several minutes long, but do nothing, show nothing and only give video footage of their shop and equipment, no narrative, no info about what the machines are for, and no demonstrations about why they have the machines. Your video offers so much valuable info. It is clear and direct. Your presentation is extremely well done and the video lighting though slightly subdued, is more than adequate. Your demonstration is very revealing and shows your dedication to this craft of cabbing, thank you.

Best advertisement for your stones! I have to buy a lot as a house fire destroyed all my turquoise. It left the silver bezels in rings and a squash blossom necklace but I need to fill those with stones. This was so interesting! Those machines cost a lot, so unless I am in the business, not worth the pricey hobby.

23:10 did that power cord ever short out rubbing on the belt? good video i like how you just roll to the girdle not bevel in steps im going to try that now, looks way faster and simple. also good to see how you hold it down and run the bottom side of the wheels here and there im new to cabbing and have always thought i was wrong and worried i might tear diamonds or have the stone pull off the dop or something catch with the wheels. looks like it works fine once its roughed in, good to see how you do it. thanks for the video.

John, I was wondering if you could give me an opinion on the veracity of a Royston vintage piece I recently purchased. In watching your video, I see that you apply plastic steel to the back and I am wondering if that may be what I am seeing or if my stone is a fake. The turquoise part seems quite thin and it almost looks like a ceramic tile on the back- there is a clear line between the layers like a wafer. Wish I could post a pict.

I have a stabilized peice of turquiose it has holes drilled. I would like to cut it in half make it i to a pendant. The size is larger then a silver dollar and about 1/2-1" thick i make bead work and want to put it into a beaded petote frame and bail, what would you suggest? Thank you for the video

Sandy, The best way to get one piece stabilized is to purchase a product called "Cactus Juice" . The manufacturer also sells a vaccum set up to stabilize. Most stabilizers will not stabilize just one piece.
