This was so satisfying. Izaya had it coming from the start. Episode after episode I watched him ruin people's days with that smug grin on his face. In the end, he got knocked down to the bottom peg. That's the only place he belongs.

I think it would have been cool to see Izaya defeat Shizuo, but that might be because I liked his character a lot more than Shizuo's. He's a mediocre character at best, simply a husk of a human that can only be aggravated and destroy things. Nothing compares in coolness to Izaya's manipulative and sinister demeanor, at least in my opinion. Idk, it would have been satisfying to see Shizuo killed by the person he hates so much. It would have been ironic, considering how feared he is throughout the series.

Excelsior it’s not my impression, it’s a real fact the creator of the manga said; you should check it out. And look at the definition of lunatic while you’re at it... and of course he doesn’t care about the people he hurts, he’s just interested in human’s reaction and want to test them either that implies hurting them or killing them or even helping them in some case and that’s why he’s such an interesting character; that’s not the type of villain you encounter who’s just purely evil for the purpose of it

I get where people are coming from. Izaya did some messed up things. However I don’t think he’s a bad guy. To me he is that type of villain that you just can’t hate. He did many things that seemed bad at first, but they did have a good outcome at the end. I think he’s such a great character for the audience and Shizuo. After all he actually understands Shizuos hard life.

He may have a reason to do so outside of all of it, but he's still a terrible person, you just have to watch one season and you understand he's able to cross anyone without a second thought just for his observation of the human behaviour. This was absolute BS. First of all, Izaya would've won had it not been for Celty saving Shizuo from the fire before on top of the skyscrapers, and secondly, that flash-bang was just unfortunate for Izaya as it distracted him resulting in him taking some hard hitting punches from Shizuo. This was just not fair, all the external factors in this fight mainly favoured Shizuo.. but they both survived so it's a win win I guess.
