NO. Your point : C | | B (B extends C) | | A (A extends B) Basically, the inheritance is about the properties of the parent class is extended to the child class, which means the child class will have its own properties along with the properties that are extended from the parent class. But the properties of the child class is never given back(extended) to the parent class. Therefore, C cannot extend A, because here C is the parent class which cannot extend(take back) the properties from child class A.

this will lead to hybrid inheritance it's same as multiple inheritance, java doesn't support this
