When we assign a value to any variable, an address is created for that variable. Id value is just for Example. a=123 type (a) ==> int Id(a) ==> 540361 Now when you assign any other value. The address will change. a=456 type(a) ==> int id(a) ==> 2537484 So the address change, hence this is totally a new variable, Not the Previous variable. So that's why we say these primitive data types are immutable. We can't change the value, one assigned. Whatever we're doing is creating a new variable with new value. Okay.

because you are not changing the value of existing object. a new object will be created with the new value. and the old value will be dealt with garbage collector to erase from the memory.
