sir creating a reference variable of Object class than typcasting it to Emp class are irrelevent steps. Basically due to if condition your program is not showing Null pointer exception. Simply creating reference variable of Emp class and applying the if condition will also result same output

Emp is not an array, Emp is a user defined type. By using this we've created an array that can capable of storing both String and int type values. Similarly we can store different types of values in a single user defined type.
