it's unfortunate that they stopped making these as it's the best plug in emergency light that I've found.

Yeah. I agree.

Excellent video, thanks for taking out the time to make it. I was exploring replacing batteries for two of these that I have had for over 10 years, still provide around 10 minutes of run time! Maybe will hold off for a few months.

Nice Job Ward I'm always replacing the cheap commercial version of emergency lights and exit lights you see in a big box stores. Remarkably they use Ni-MH batteries. The lights are under charge continuously like yours, the problem being nickel cadmium developing memory and thus may fail after a year. I should modify this charging circuit for Metal Hydride, but then there is a liability issue, so I'm stuck with the nickel cadmium. One can save a little money buying replacing AA cells and soldering them like you rather than buying the replacement battery packs.

Thanks Mack. Yeah, it's surprising how many places NiCads still turn up. I hate 'em.

Yo Ward, ETSAIRs claim huge mA-hrs but are testing out about 400 mA-hr on my tester. The 14500s ran about 270-350 mA-hr while claiming 2800 mA-hr. "Now you know."

Thank you, sir! I ran similar tests about 2 years ago when I first got these, and I knew the numbers were bad, but I guess I didn't remember HOW bad! :) Sigh. I was a fool!!!

What is the difference between the 18650 3.6 and 3.7 volt battery

Down to my last two working ones so I thought I'd try replacing the battery in the two bad ones. Thanks. Any recommendation on where to get the replacement cells?
@WardCoАй бұрын
I often get them on eBay and sometimes Amazon -- just beware of the "too good to be true" mAh ratings. 2600 mAh is reasonable, 9900 mAh is somebody's fantasy and indicates (to me anyway) a con job.

Quick question: Would you be able to recommend a link on which battery to get from where. Thanks
