I found what I think is going to be a really slick solution for my 2 X 72 belt grinder's dust collection. This stuff will allow me to easily move my dust collection in various positions and will work with all my different belt grinder attachments. I should have installed this thing years ago. I bought it on Amazon and here is an affiliate link if you are interested yourself: amzn.to/34fRdBn

About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

Your Lathe reminded me of a story. In my father's younger days as an apprentice machinist, he worked in a heavy-duty machine shop. They would work on massive industrial things. There was a lathe that was large enough that you could fit a car. He told me that someone had started the lathe without the chuck being locked on and the chuck unthreaded and launched through the wall and into the parking lot. He also told me about someone getting shavings caught on their ankle and it cut his tendon. I'd love to have a metal lathe!

LOVE this idea! I have the water exchanger for my grinder setup but honestly I never really use it much for steel and its a PITA because I have to move the catcher when I put on the surface grinder attachment. I like how this just moves out of the way!

Knifemaker here (peu.net), be sure not to use with steels, the sparks heat up pretty quickly and will burn holes thru it. I made one with my 3D Printer way thicker than what you purchased and this gives me a bit of time to throw some water. Keep an eye on the sparks. I like the idea of the flexible arm a lot!

Looks like a great product. Definitely picking it up. Personally, I could 3D print a stronger tab for it, and many of them, so I could move the arm to various benches in the shop. Thanks for sharing.

That is actually a really great system. Ill see if I can find it here in Sweden and fixate it in between the grinders. Thanks for the tip!
@dalekidd420
@dalekidd420 4 жыл бұрын
Certainly a step up from the system you used to use out in the SeaCan. Mind you, that thing holds up for as long as the shop-vac you have it attached to, and if the shop-vac goes down, you just move the system to a new one! The one I won from you a couple of years ago is STILL going strong! Cheers!

Very nice! Looks like we can purchase the 1ft sections for ~$15 ea. also and make the ends if already have close enough. Or if want just the ends, they're about ~$5-6. US pricing from what I see. Really like how you've setup so works out between two machines. Handy, thanks for sharing!

Watching you walk straight into that tall dry grass on a sunny day and picking up a nice warm pipe near on have me a heart attack, you didn’t even stomp or kick it to try scare off snakes 😂😂
@Simplelittlelife
@Simplelittlelife 4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha that’s funny. We don’t have any snakes here. I think the last time I saw a snake around here was a garter snake when I was 7 years old. I don’t even think we have a single venomous critter here. Just -40° which I guess kills them off 😄👍

I wonder if you attached a stiff paint brush to the back end of the dust collector if it'd act as a wiper and knock the embedded dust off the belts some.

Very cool! It’s always satisfying when a tool upgrade works out. Are you going to try and make a spark arrester so you can run the vacuum for metal dust as well?

@Simplelittlelife

Yes! They actually have adaptors in the kit that mount to most shop vacs. Just roll it where you need it. I actually almost want another one just for my shop vac for other areas around the shop 👍

Hey do you have any tips for how to get the belts to track better on the kmg. I have the same one and my belts have about .125” of movement left to right. I am using a flat platen with a single speed 1.5hp motor and 3 speed pully adjustment. That’s all I can afford at the time and I want to make the most out of it. Thanks!
@Simplelittlelife
@Simplelittlelife 4 жыл бұрын
Have you verified it’s not the belts that are the problem. Unless there is something loose they should be running consistent. I have had some belts that were just not cut correctly and had that back and forth tracking.
@Arcrobes
@Arcrobes 4 жыл бұрын
@@Simplelittlelife Thanks for getting back to me. It is entirely possible. I have noticed some belts have run straight and some that move. Any belt recommendations? Brands or places to buy them?
