I've looked at a number of dust collector videos and you're the only one that has found a way of dispersing the air stream and reducing the air turbulence. Great job.

I love it. This might be the solution to my integrated dust collection for the mobile all in one workbench I'm designing. Thank you. Subscribed!

Sensible approach. My saltwater aquarium canister filters use the same principle to evenly suck water through the length of the pleated paper filters. I like your approach. 👏👍

Clever. The perforated outflow reminds me a little of the Dyson intake. I didn’t hear the music.

I’m confused about the perforated outflow tube. How long is it and how close to the baffle is it? Seems to me that lite dust could go from the cyclone effect directly to the outflow tube and therefore getting into the shop vac dust filter, defeating the purpose. Chips and heavier dust would fall to the bottom of the dust collection bucket, but maybe the lighter dust could cause trouble at the shop vac. Was the separator baffle made of plywood to stiffen the bucket preventing collapse if the intake got clogged? A simple relief valve would prevent the collapsing bucket.

Nice concept and video. I couldn't access the article though. Is the website still up and running or is there any other way to get hold of the document. TIA.

Cutting circles on a circular saw with a jig like this has cost many fingers

What was the pressure drop like though? I would worry that this might cost a significant amount of pressure loss as air is restricted and dispersed as it travels through the baffle.

Great project. Very accessible. Have you tried lowering the inlet connection? e.g. towards the mid-height of the bucket.
@willofscott2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it seems to me that the different designs have the intake too high up where it’s more prone to get sucked in the exhaust port being it’s spinning around the port and not at a lower level? But I have never built one, and it seems to work fantastic, so what do i know. Lol.
@unperrier2 жыл бұрын
@@willofscott I've built one with a lower inlet and it works great.

Good video. Good descriptions and camera angles. My personal preference would be to hear shop noises and the voiceover not the music. Each to their own.

im really confused. whats the point of this? all you did was removed the bucket and filter from the shop vac and added a home made cyclone and bucket to the equation and made it harder to drag around the shop to vacuum.
@brucecampbell61864 ай бұрын
It saves your expensive shop vac filter from getting filled with larger particles so it can filter only the smallest particles out leaving your shop air cleaner.

I came here to listen to a man talk about dust extraction, not to listen to music and compete with what the man says. Why must so many creators do this? It's frustrating

Edit: this is his last video, 1 of 2. The sound mixing is a mountain too high and that you left it like this, without re-mixing the levels (knowing people were annoyed by it!) is sad.

For me it was the volume gradients. It was so soft when he was speaking and at times felt like I had to turn it up to hear what he was saying, but then my ears would get blasted off when music popped in on the time lapses.

Did nobody ever teach you about volume gradients when making a video. I have to turn it up to here you speak but then get my ears blasted off when your music pops in on the time lapses. Down voted as recompense for my eardrums.
