Dust Shield/Brake Rotor Scraping

Easy fix for a problem I caused..

Dumb question but can you bend the dust shield without taking off the whole wheel? I feel like its a quick fix and I don’t want to do all that

more than likely yes.. I took it apart to show where it was rubbing and to make the video..

Mines was just doing the same thing I didn’t understand where the noise was coming from until i lifted my car and seen the dust shield hanging

What type of noise were you experiencing? I had this issue before when only turning. This time when moving slowly, but it sounds metal on metal squeaking, very very loud.

Sounded like dragging a shovel across concrete.. And same here, only heard it when turning..

​@tongo117 i have this type of noise when moving forward. Doesn't seem to get worse when going faster, just consistent... happened 15 minutes after driving on a bumpy dirt road for 2 miles. Car is dirty, wonder if a rock got caught somewhere, i did reverse at one point for 200 ft on gravel and dirt. Gonna look under car tomorrow.

I think im having the same problem. Not exactly a car wizard like you but im hoping i can bend the sheild and get rid of that horrible grinding sound. Thnx for the video✊️✊️✊️

Yeah if this is your problem it's an easy fix.. I grinding sound is only when you apply brakes it's likely that your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced..

@@tongo117I described mine this way today to a friend. Weirdest thing is it was fine after changing to new pads. After driving through a construction site, kicked up some rocks, heard a noise from that point on. Warped dust shield + lodged rock. I'll update tomorrow what the issue and fix is

Wont lie, still a bit of a head scratcher. Took the pads off and put em back in, bent the dust shield back in some spots and the noise is gone. Although now my brakes have a new squeak that sounds like a warped rotor based on the speed im braking at. At least the brutal scraping of the dust shield is gone, just allowed me to find a new problem

@@ancientdiscoverys just thought I would mention, I had my front CV axles replaced by my shop a week ago. Car feels much better though in terms of turning and on bumps and cracks in the road
