They go around causing a LOT of havoc and damage in pursuit of their goal to topple the current authority in Vinyl City, NSR. These acts include interrupting numerous live performances (which are supplying power to the city), breaking a small child's piano that she inherited from her departed father, wrecking a bunch of children's group project, causing a mentally unwell lady to have a breakdown, beat up a war veteran and his idol band, and just a large amount of property damage. ~Spoilers~ All, in the end, to discover that their music doesnt produce any more power than the music of NSR. Sure, NSR had a stranglehold on what music could be played in Vinyl City, but what Mayday and Zuke do is reckless and dangerous. Of course, Mayday and Zuke were also being manipulated by a toxic, slimey git, and the duo makes things right by saving the city from a falling satellite. Afterwards, NSR releases its grip on what music can be played, and the city no longer suffers from blackouts as a result.

So just to pick one scene, the highway patrol scene, you have two options: One, run for it, and Sai speeds away until she swerves causing incoming traffic to also swerve and CRASH into the cops. Having watched extracts from this game, I can say that what bothers me most is the difference between the game's style versus the tone of its narrative. When you see Dustborn in action, you see a colorful universe with colorful characters, a comic-book interface with characters icons drawn in “chibi” style, turns of phrases that are meant to be comical, characters that correspond to comic-writing tropes... And yet the story is ABSOLUTELY NOT funny. In fact, the game's story is very serious, even depressing at times. It does not seems to be a failure on the screenwriters side : the script seems to have been deliberately written to tell a story that is ultimately rather sad, with a taste of “no future” and a fatalistic view on life. Imagine using the setting of Guardians of the Galaxy to tell a Warhammer 40K story. That's the impression this game leaves me with. Its visual and sound presentation doesn't fit at all with the story the game wants to tell.

On the other hand though, Jesus was Jewish and the Jewish Tanakh (what Christians call the Old Testament) was written before he was born, meaning that since he was a 100% practicing and observant Jew he would probably have been pretty familiar with it. That being said though, the way they portray Jesus in this game, in my opinion as a Jew, is completely unhistorical and gross. It makes zero fucking sense and no matter what way you twist it, it just confuses me to no end, I don't understand why it exists, and that's REALLY BAD because this is supposed to be an actual world and not some videogame locale, this is supposed to be the characters' real life, what fucking rules do these people live by, how does this make any sense at all? Even if we ignore the fact that the game sucks, has annoying characters (save for the literal self-insert) and makes absolutely no effort at tryihg to do ANYTHING well , it just fails to make sense AT ALL, which is like the cardinal SIN of fictional worlds, you can't just do that, it makes no fucking sense, I'm losing my mind- and the fucking "this isn't the bus you're looking for" scene and the bar scene and the everything. This is a fucking STROKE of a game, it's everything that they could have possibly done wrong, and then some, and to top it all off they say "if you don't like us you're racist and bad and man and bad and transphone and bad and you spread MiSinfOrmATiON and you're bad" and just. This game has some of the most mastubatory & smarmy material I’ve ever seen…and I’ve seen a lot of horrible BreadTube Video Essays about video games purely out of morbid curiosity 🤷🏽‍♂️ At this point, I’m convinced that it’s a parody game made only to appease the Norwegian Film Board’s Video Game Funding Committee’s panel of Onanists who are afraid of being seen as [buzzwords] merely because they’re European…so they funded this game no questions asked and made up excuses like “it’s a commercially viable product” to shoo away anyone looking at them with disdain for how politically motivated the approval of this game blatantly is. Midnight’s Edge did a great video on the “Why” of how it even got made in the first place and how its mere existence is a stain on the Norwegian Video Game Scene since its an indictment on how biased their art grant program is.

I’m gonna start this with stating that I’m liberal. Several of you would call me woke. Doesn’t make this game any better. This game feels like it was made by liberal skin walkers. It genuinely feels like this game was written by an AI trained on “liberal” training data aka weird parody shit but it takes itself seriously. Every character expect the Arab chick is a stereotype written to be taken genuinely and seriously which greatly confuses me. I genuinely think the developers have never actually been to America.
